PHOTO COURTESY OF WYNN LAS VEGAS

Michael Jackson is close to purchasing a home in Las Vegas, according to buzz in the real estate community.

Jackson leased a home in Summerlin for six months a year ago before moving back East. He returned in November and has been spotted staying at a home on Palomino Lane for several months.

Colony Capital recently bought the loan on the singer's Neverland Ranch.

Meanwhile, Jackson's father, Joe Jackson, is apparently joining the crowded reality show field. He was spotted dining at Makino Japanese seafood buffet near Eastern and 215, with a film crew taping his visit.

    SOCCER STAR VISITS

British soccer star Wayne Rooney was at Tryst nightclub at Wynn Las Vegas on Saturday, celebrating his recent marriage.

The Manchester United star married his childhood sweetheart, Coleen McLoughlin, on June 12 at a 17th century villa on the Italian Riviera. Rooney joined Tryst operator Victor Drai in his private booth.

It has been rumored for some time that Rooney was going to have his bachelor party in Las Vegas.

He told the British media that he suggested a "quickie" wedding in Sin City while he and McLoughlin were vacationing here last year.

"I said let's just do it," he said, "but Coleen wants the big wedding."

    THE PUNCH LINE

"Barack Obama says he will not accept $85 million of public financing for his campaign. I guess he's raising more money on his own, but passing on $85 million ... Here are some things you can buy with $85 million: 85 million items at the 99 cent store ... $85 million could get you a whole summer's worth of gas ... or with $85 million, you could buy Heather Mills." -- Jimmy Kimmel

Bubbles wrote on June 23, 2008 11:18 AM: Vegasgal,

If you don't want to see MJ, then what are you doing snooping around his house?

VegasGal wrote on June 23, 2008 11:13 AM: The home he was renting six months ago wasn't in Summerlin. It was just west of Rainbow Blvd. between Desert Inn and Edna. Nice place. Still had a Christmas tree in the window MONTHS after the holidays.

Count me amongst those who wouldn't pay $2 to see WJ.

Jeffy Dahmer wrote on June 23, 2008 10:30 AM: Why, oh why, does Wilmer Valderamma keep coming to Las Vegas every weekend? Why, oh why, do you keep giving him press Norm? This guy is a nobody - played a little gay boy on that 70's TV show, big deal. What else has he done? Go away Wilmer, your 15 minutes are used up.

Johnny wrote on June 23, 2008 10:19 AM: You are right on Donald as usual. I wouldn't pay $2 to see this guy gyrate on stage. All I could envision is him in his bed with 2 little boys pretending it's just a bonding session. The only reason he was living in Bahrain for awhile was because they have no extradition with the U.S. and he was covering his bases. He has a problem and he knows it.

The Donald wrote on June 23, 2008 10:14 AM: Every month you report the same think about Michael Jackson Norm. It seems pretty obvious now that the Hilton will be dumb enough to put him up and headline him. God knows that Jackson obviously needs some money. I'm sure Jackson himself isn't buying a home - somone will buy him one as part of his 'package'. With one house being saved from foreclosure by Colony Capital - I doubt Jackson has any viable credit. Jackson is a great entertainer, but with all his baggage, I really don't think America will support him this go around. Dancing around and singing "Billy Jean" at 50 just won't be the same.
