To the idiot 'thick' response to my first post: Unless there is overwhelming press coverage of this case this cop will walk and you know it. Cops convicted of wrongdoing are more rare than megabuck jackpots.

we, all, will have to listen to the pro-state, pro-police drivel, as exemplified below, in the meantime.

    There is no Justice.

Huh? wrote on July 19, 2008 05:44 PM: NRS. Everyone here has driven drunk?
No, some of us realize that that is stupid and are responsible enough to not want to kill innocent people. This story is not about driving drunk though. It is about an officer who is to be held to a higher standard. He should lose his pension, he should go to prison. I am a huge police supporter, but this guy was abviously a bad apple. My only sympathy goes out to the the the person that he killed. Mr Lattins pension should go to the family of the deceased, or to the system that will now have to pay for his lock-up

NRS wrote on July 19, 2008 04:14 PM: I'm surprise some of you folks read the newspaper. This Sgt. is going to be double dipped like most police officers are.
Instead of thinking with hate, how many times have you drove drunk and made it home. Unless your a Nerd, everyone has done it, especially the X-generation.
This Sgt. is not only going to pay the price by going to jail, he's going to be terminated and lose his civil service pention he invested.
He messed up, like every single reader here has never messed up.
Even if this was a drunk driver accident without death, he would have paid the price as well, including being on the news.
Kit if you think the Cops out here are corrupted, your an idiot. Cops out here are more leniant than most State because its a tourist attraction.
Your probably one of those people cops stop all the time..I'm almost 98% sure on that...

Not only will he do no time(maybe probation) but he'll probably get a promotion. I guess if you're not rich or a politician the next best thing for leniant justice is to be a cop.

    That is just Moronic.

I'll venture an educated guess and propose that the reason Williams faced more time was because she killed MULTIPLE people. Got it? Good...you handjob. And since you spewing all this hatred, why don't you move to BFE since Nevada doesn't do it for ya'. And one last thing Coward, I mean Kit...just remember who arrested this NHP guy...oh, that's right, the POLICE. They didn't "alter" the drug results, they didn't give special treatment. Kit, I think YOU better wake up and just realize it aint a perfect world. So pay your parking tickets, quit boo-hooing cause you didn't get that supervisor position at the Dollar Store and turn up the swamp cooler in your trailer so you can CHILL OUT...loser.

Kit wrote on July 19, 2008 10:14 AM: How come this clown only faces 20 years when Jessica Williams got 48???????

This is abuse and favortism by the judge and DA's office.

Remember these people when it comes time to vote.

Remember the killer cops in the Valley.
Never forget the cop that executed the mother in front of her children in Henderson and got away with it.
Never forget the pregnant female LVMP shot dead and got away with that.

Nevada is a bad State, filled with abusive and corrupt cops and judges.
Just because the current event doesn't involve you, it does effect your future.

This cop should be executed just like all those cops who have ever pulled the trigger.

You people want your freedom, then you had better wake up and fight for it.
    Stop the police terrorism.........

Shirley wrote on July 19, 2008 10:07 AM: He had almost the exact same amount of marijuana in his system as Jessica Williams, folks. And she was found innocent by a jury of her peers of being under the influence of marijuana at the time of the crash -- even though they had to find her guilty of breaking John Porter's stupid DUI law.

    Lets stick to the facts.
