Man shot, killed in home invasion

Police say burglars sought drugs, money

Three burglars seeking drugs and money burst into a southwest valley home Thursday night and fatally shot a man in the head, police said.

A pregnant woman at the home drove herself to the hospital out of concern for her child but was not harmed during the incident, Las Vegas police said.

  • Police said the three suspects entered the house at 4983 W. Moberly Ave., near Warm Springs Road and Decatur Boulevard, about 10 p.m. demanding drugs and money from the people inside.

One of them was armed with a knife and another was armed with a handgun, police said.

A witness told police that the three men believed that drugs were being sold out of the house. After the suspects took an unknown amount of money, one of them shot the 31-year-old man in the head and fled.

    No vehicle was seen.

Lt. Lew Roberts said police didn't know whether drugs were taken from the home by the suspects. Investigators did find marijuana residue in the house, he said.

"They were actively selling drugs out of the house," Roberts said.

The victim's name was not released.

Neighbors said visitors in nice cars frequented the home, but never stayed long.

Two cars were parked in the driveway Friday but any trace of police presence -- beyond the charcoal-colored smears of fingerprint dust on the front door -- was absent.

The only activity on the street came from construction workers building houses in the Richmond American Homes development across the street. Immaculate model homes sat only a few houses away.

Police still were searching for the suspects Friday night. They were described as thin men in their early 20s, all wearing black clothing. One of them was wearing a checkerboard "L.A." baseball hat, police said.

Anybody with information is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.

I could give a damn care less about some honky/red neck bastard nor anybody that has anything negative to say about my family. None of you were there and none of you know what the hell happened. It doesn't matter what color he is nor the killer. Worry about what the next man thinks about you and when you shall perish from this life. Hopefully you will not have anyone leave drugs at your sight, but many that have things to say are snorting that stuff or shooting up.
My cousin was an excellent man and a damn good father. I love you always B and you will never be forgotten.
For those that are sending your regards thank you very much.

    This killer on the
other hand did intend to murder. That's why he deserves the death penalty. Even if he killed a drug dealer, it's still wrong to kill someone (unless it's the state executing a murderer) I hope they catch all 3 suspects.

Not one person has commented on the fact that there was a pregnant woman who witnessed the father of her child be murdered. I don't care if he was selling drugs or selling ice cream NO ONE and I mean NO ONE deserves death by another humans hands. ONLY GOD can judge, but there is a lot going on here. NICE! "Kill the drug dealer" and what about that child? That "drug dealer" as you call him does have family that is hurt by this. To the family: God Bless you! To the unborn child: daddy loves you!

There's no "eye for an eye" quote in your comment regarding the trooper who killed somebody - I guess you only quote the passages that support your stupid comments, and ignore the ones that don't.

About 6yrs when there was nothing but desert out here, some scummy pimp named Slinky shot 3 hookers execution style in the desert on Robindale & Decatur. The proxmity to the strip makes this area desirable for undesirables.
