Theodore Lee of Urban Land of Nevada must be nursing a wicked headache after tangling with University Chancellor James Rogers, his son Perry Rogers and Andre Agassi in a busted business deal over the future of the All-American Sports Park.
Father and son Rogers and Agassi were investors in the Sports Park with Ron Boreta in a lease arrangement with Urban Land.
Lee not only saw his lawsuit dismissed with prejudice following a summary judgment, but he also wrote the three businessmen an apology and agreed to cough up $185,877.45 in legal fees and costs following a wrangle with attorney Donald Campbell.
Lee's apology concluded, "I hope that this does not cause you any problems in your future endeavors."
Give that guy a bottle of Bayer.
And I thought Jim Rogers only gave headaches to Gov. Jim Gibbons.
1 PERCENT CLUB: I figured Republican operative Steve Wark had an intriguing deal at the Vistana condominium development when I discovered he held a position on the homeowners association board despite having just a 1-percent stake in a unit. It turns out he's not alone.
Wark also has a close relationship with Silver Lining Construction owner Leon Benzer, who these days finds himself in the middle of an FBI and Metro public corruption investigation involving potential election fraud in homeowners associations and kickbacks inside the construction defect repair business.
I've now found that former Metro officer and Benzer employee Frank Sutton also holds just a 1-percent stake in a condo unit at the Park Avenue development. Sutton is on the homeowners association board, but a group of fellow residents has taken up a petition to have him removed from office.
ADULT TROUBLE: Shunned sex club operator David Cooper continues to wage a one-man war against what he calls the hypocrisy of the county's business license process. Now Cooper has delivered a sizable notebook of examples of the local sex industry operating right under the noses of county regulators.
All rumors, realities and irrefutable evidence to the contrary, the sex business is illegal in Southern Nevada.
TURNING BLUE: Democrats continue to make significant voter registration gains throughout the state and even in Washoe County, where they now trail Republicans by a scant 1,900 votes. If the Democrats' voter advantage translates into major victories on Election Day, longtime Republicans will be left wondering whether party officials took their own registration efforts seriously enough.
MAKEOVER NOMINEES: You have to hope for the best for the Feller family. They have been beset by numerous medical and financial maladies, but recently were nominated for a televised home renovation program. With a mother and grandmother suffering, the family is increasingly desperate for an "Extreme Home Makeover."

CHAMPIONS ALL: Danny Gans might have a thousand voices at his command, but in my book he speaks best during his annual Champions Run For Life to benefit the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation.
This year's event takes place Oct. 11 at The District at Green Valley Ranch. There's a 5K run and a 1-mile walk, but the best part is the inspiration mini-run by local children afflicted by cancer. If you're not moved by them, you're made of stone. Race day registration starts at 7:30 a.m. With a week to go, there's still time to get in shape.
ON THE BOULEVARD: Many more questions than answers in the FBI and Metro investigation of election rigging inside local homeowners associations. One question that recurs: Are locals involved in similar activity in developments out of state ... Journalist Jeff Burbank has Fremont Street wired on his new Web site, lasvegasdowntownnews.com.
BOULEVARD II: The Ride for Kids is set to roar Sunday morning at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. There's still time to join the parade of motorcycle enthusiasts and benefit the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation in the process. Registration begins at 8 a.m. ... Meanwhile, Oct. 10-12 is set for the Perini Green Weekend with proceeds to benefit the Shade Tree Shelter, Teach For America and the Paiute Tribe Education Committee. Events include a happy hour at McCormick & Schmick's and a 5-kilometer run and bicycle ride. For more info, go to perinigreenweekend.com.
