Nevada poll: Obama at 50 percent, McCain 43 percent

RENO -- A poll shows Democrat Barack Obama has opened up a legitimate statistical lead over Republican John McCain in Nevada for the first time.

The statewide survey shows Obama with 50 percent to McCain's 43 percent. Three percent sided with other candidates and 4 percent said they remain undecided.

  • The survey of 600 likely voters was for the Reno Gazette-Journal and Channel 2 News from Oct. 3 to Oct. 6.

It has a margin of error of 4 percent, which means Obama's lead is outside the margin of error.

Prior to the poll, only McCain had enjoyed a lead in Nevada outside the margin of error and that was early in the campaign season.

Recent polls had shown the two senators in a statistical dead heat.

The new poll released Tuesday was by the Maryland-based Research 2000.

It's the first the newspaper has commissioned since the two announced their vice presidential running mates.

"President Bush has been in office for more than 71/2 years. Almost two years ago, consumer confidence stood at a 21/2-year high. Gasoline cost about $2.20 a gallon. The unemployment rate was 4.5 percent. Americans were buying houses and taking vacations. "

Yes, on the surface it might appear that way. But think it through a bit. Many real estate purchases were due to reckless lending and borrowing. Additionally, many people used their home as an ATM. As far as I know, Congress didn't force consumers to borrow more than they could afford. Debt from the consumer to the Federal level has skyrocketed. There's plenty of blame to go around. This transcends politics. Consumers who borrowed irresponsibly should take a look in the mirror and question their lack of personal responsibility and questionable financial judgment before pointing fingers at politicians.

Let's face it. Obama is going to be the next President of The United States.

abc wrote on October 08, 2008 08:21 PM: It wasn't listed on today's internet version of the RJ, but tucked away on page 20A is a small article by the AP (Always Progressive / Associated Press) stating that Jerome Corsi, the author of "Obama Nation", was expelled from Kenya (the home of Obama's alcoholic, polygamous, muslim father) "just hours before he was to launch his book in a country where the Democratic candidate for president is wildly popular" (Yeah, no suprise here... Obama has pledged to impose a 'global tax' on US citizens to give to people in 3rd world countries). The article states Corsi was ordered to leave because he did not have a work permit... (yeah right). Then, to put their usual leftist spin on the story, the AP says the book "includes innuendoes and false rumors that he was raised a Muslim and attended a radical black church." Well, it seems the AP didn't do much research for a supposed "news agency": Obama idolized Malcolm X and belonged to Trinity church in Chicago for about 20 years, where Reverend Wright spewed his hatred of America and white people (God Damn America!... the government caused AIDS in our community...9/11 is the 'chickens coming home to roost'...). Obama only recenlty rejected Wright because it was politically expedient... same with his relationship with Bill Ayers. Second, Obama's father and stepfather were Muslim, he attended a Muslim school for a couple years as a boy, and it appears that money to buy his Chicago house may have come from Middle East muslims. Please read the book, it is very interesting.

    This is 'change'?
President Bush has been in office for more than 71/2 years. Almost two years ago, consumer confidence stood at a 21/2-year high. Gasoline cost about $2.20 a gallon. The unemployment rate was 4.5 percent. Americans were buying houses and taking vacations.

But Americans wanted "change," so in 2006 they voted in a Democratic Congress. And, yes, we got "change." In the past year, consumer confidence has plummeted. Gasoline peaked at more than $4 per gallon. The unemployment rate is more than 6 percent. Americans have seen their home equity drop by trillions of dollars, and it's still dropping. Foreclosures have not bottomed out yet. The Dow Jones industrial average has taken a nose dive. Our 401(k) plans, stocks and mutual funds have almost evaporated.

No matter what House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid tell you, the president has no control over these issues. However, the 535 members of Congress do, and it is currently a Democratic majority.
What has this Congress done for the past two years? Absolutely nothing. Its approval rating is lower the president's -- at least he is in the double digits.
Now Sen. Barack Obama, the Democratic candidate for president, claims he is going to really give us a change, with the help of a Democratic Congress.
Just how much more "change" do you think we can stand?

Finally have a chance for worldwide peace.
We'll be able to get together with Hamas like Ms. Albright tried to do.
Maybe now nosuh massa and yesuh massa will go away.
With us and Hamas they can return to the homeland and if the Jews don't like it tough.
They can learn to live with our brothers and sisters or leave.
In the U.S. I think that finally brothers and sisters can get rid of that yoke the Jews, and others put on the blacks.
We'll have power and prestige and lead instead of follow.
