Club operator hires reputed mob figure

The chairman and CEO of Rick's Cabaret International, Eric Langan, said Wednesday he has hired reputed Bonanno crime family soldier Vincent Faraci to help manage his Las Vegas topless club.

Neither Faraci's reputation with federal law enforcement nor his two prior criminal convictions dissuaded Langan from bringing him into the fold of the publicly traded company.

  • "We're aware of his background," Langan said. "He's been cleared by the sheriff's department to work in Las Vegas."

Industry sources report Faraci enjoys a work card and recently worked at the Eden strip club. He was one of 15 local men to plead guilty in 2006 to criminal charges related to a protracted FBI and Las Vegas police investigation of Rick Rizzolo's Crazy Horse Too topless cabaret on Industrial Road.

Throughout the investigation, Faraci was described as a member of the Bonanno crime family. But when it came time for him to receive a 10-month sentence from U.S. District Judge Kent Dawson, Faraci's attorney David Chesnoff successfully argued for his client to not be labeled as mob-connected. Faraci's sentence called for five months of incarceration and five months under house arrest.

Langan, profiled last year in Forbes magazine as operator of one of America's 200 Best Small Companies, said the trouble Faraci found himself in at the Crazy Horse Too could not happen at Rick's Cabaret because of the club's superior internal control system.

"He worked at the same place 21 years," Langan said. "He had some tax issues there. It's not an issue with us. We pay our people with paychecks and issue W-2s, not cash, like Rick did at the Crazy Horse.

"He was involved with an owner who set up a system that the IRS didn't like. We're a publicly traded company. Vinny doesn't even touch cash in our business."

Rick's Cabaret International trades on the NASDAQ. The Houston-based company operates 19 clubs in 13 cities, including the Las Vegas location at 3355 Procyon St.

The Bad Guy wrote on November 19, 2008 02:44 PM: it sounds more and more like people are just jealous of something that could happen obviously if vinnie broke a guys a neck or had someone break a guys neck he would be in jail. but there is two many people leaving comments on here that have less than 20 dollars in their bank accounts and are taking it out on someone else get a new job and stop being envious of someone you can never be. he was hired because of his knowledge of the business which obviously shows he knows alot being with his backround included he still got the job; and none of you winners on here did with a "backround". Dont believe what you read its most likely the jealous talking. Vinny and everyone around him are great people and take good care of clientel.....

Smell the Failure of Rick's... it's shitty! wrote on November 17, 2008 12:19 AM: The pompous attitude of the management at Rick's is just amazing to me. They fired off the loyal staff of many years and replaced them with one- dimensional thug types... already entertainers reporting being told, "There are a lot of holes in the desert" for not tipping the hosts and management (i.e. the convicted felons) nearly enough. Eric Langan has no clue how the Vegas market works anyhow...clearly stating that he will get together with other clubs to stop paying the cabs entirely. What?! Get with the program "GUY!"... You won't be "setting the bar" here! It has already been set and everyone, but you, knows how it works... bah-bye Rick's Cabaret!

Mobsters are Stupid wrote on November 13, 2008 08:35 PM: Look at the Crazy Horse's Rizzolo. He was sitting on a gold mine and figured that he could beat up and paralyze any drunk they decided they didn't like.

Bullies. Targeting people who can't fight back. Real brave. Real tough. Your mamas are proud.

Didn't you guys learn anything from the Binions? Everything changed when the Horseshoe almost lost its license for kidnapping, etc, one of the crimes OJ is rotting for.

After all the crap that went down at the Crazy Horse, I'd never drop a dollar at Rick's. Who knows, you could find yourself in a strange situation, and in a split-second a high-school dropout, white-gorilla decides you are guilty and roughs you up as if you were actually wearing football armor.

Then you're paralyzed. Mafia types. Real tough bullies.

The shareholders should bail out, or dump the CEO. Vinny is a loose-cannon liability waiting to happen.

First of all Vinnie handles all the employees money and distributes it as he sees fit. This is how they got in trouble at the Horse....making alot of money and not reporting it. As part of these tips to employees he demands 15 percent from entertainers. Vinnie is a has been in a market that has changed. There is to much competition in this market to rough up guests and extort entertainers. Good luck Eric ...you are a fool who will be lucky to keep your club open for more than six months.

Lucky Lefty wrote on November 13, 2008 12:27 PM: Why are mob members "reputed" when every other criminal is "alleged"? And how does one "enjoy" a work card?
I think Vinny might enjoy lap dance auditions a little more than a work card, ya know what I'm sayin'? Ah, forgeddaboutit.

vegas_visitor wrote on November 13, 2008 11:37 AM: I'll be going to Vegas in a few weeks, and was thinking about going to Rick's. However, knowing that this club is being managed by this guy, and knowing the problems at Crazy Horse, where customers were roughed up, and one guy getting his neck broken, I doubt if I'll be going to Rick's. I hope the owner rethinks his decision to hire someone with this guy's reputation. And, just because the guy doesn't handle the money, doesn't mean that he can't have his hand out looking for under the table payments from customers for a better seat or better serve. Or, he could be using his position to extort the dancers who want to work the better hours, not to mention letting the bouncers mishandle the customers.

ghffef wrote on November 13, 2008 10:08 AM: Nobody can run a club like Vinny. That's why he was hired.

Why He was Hired wrote on November 13, 2008 06:39 AM: Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think running a strip joint requires much expertise. Of all the people one could hire, with this guys baggage, why hire him.

The mob connection must be the reason, that will somehow benefit the strip joint.

    Protection?

Well, that speaks volumes, and such a comfort for all. . .
