A 45-year-old Las Vegas woman was killed Friday night after the pickup truck she was riding in was struck by a drunken driver, police said.

Las Vegas police said the woman was riding in a 2006 Ford Ranger that was traveling south on Wilshire Street crossing Doe Avenue, in a residential neighborhood near Decatur and Oakey boulevards.

At 10:57 p.m., the truck was struck in the intersection by a 1965 Chevrolet Impala driven by 19-year-old Michael Dobrijevich, police said.

The Impala was traveling west on Doe and failed to stop at the stop sign at Wilshire, police said.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Ford, 48-year-old Damon Teuscher, suffered minor injuries and was taken to University Medical Center.

Dobrijevich also was taken to UMC with minor injuries. Police then arrested him on a charge of felony driving under the influence resulting in death.

Pedestrian killed in hit and run

A man was struck and killed in the northeast valley Friday night by a motorist, who fled the scene.

Las Vegas police said the victim, whose name was not released, was in the street by the curb on Dolly Lane near Judson Avenue, in the area of Lake Mead and Lamb boulevards.

An unknown vehicle struck the man at 10:39 p.m. and then headed south on Dolly, police said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

One killed, one hurt in gunfire at mall

Police in Tukwila, Wash., were searching late Saturday for a gunman in a shopping mall who killed one young man and wounded another after an argument.

The gunfire just before 3:45 p.m. sent shoppers running for the exits at the Southcenter Mall, which was then evacuated. The gunman and the two victims were in their late teens or early 20s. At least two people were detained.

An official Harborview Medical Center in Seattle said one of the men died.

PART-TIME WORK FOR POLICE

Snitches wanted: Criminals can apply

The Albuquerque Police Department has turned to the want ads for snitches.

An ad last week in the alternative newspaper The Alibi asked "people who hang out with crooks" to do part-time work for the police.

It read in part: "Make some extra cash! Drug use and criminal record OK."

Capt. Joe Hudson said police received more than 30 responses in two days. He said one tip was a "big one," but he wouldn't elaborate.
