MGM Mirage opens CityCenter job application process

MGM Mirage opened the job application process today for the more than 12,000 positions it needs to fill at the massive $9.1 billion CityCenter development.

Applications are being taken over a Web site, www.citycentercareers.com, for job classifications. Some of the positions will begin in September while others will open through December, when CityCenter is expected to be completed.

MGM Mirage officials have said about half of CityCenter’s positions will be filled by employees at other company casinos. But the application process will also be used to fill positions at MGM Mirage properties that lose workers to CityCenter.

The company has said CityCenter is the most expensive private commercial development in U.S. history. It includes the 4,000-room Aria hotel and casino as its centerpiece along with non-gaming luxury hotels, condominiums and retail.

Harry wrote on January 05, 2009 04:29 PM: So the casino's just laid off like 15,000 throughout the valley and are opening up 12,000? And with 1/2 being filled from internal positions (lateral move) it cuts their overhead down at other locations and cuts down hiring new people...and ya think 12,000 wil lapply on line or in person?? Don't spend that first paycheck yet!!! They said that some of the additional hotels have already cut back on the hiring at Cityplace. MMMM, economics??

Bill wrote on January 05, 2009 04:01 PM: What's the point of pointing all of these people through this exercise? No way will CityCenter be up and running any time soon. Not only that, the 12,000 jobs will probably be pared down to half that (all of which will be filled by ex-MGM people). I wouldn't get too excited if I was some new applicant here.
