Victims of crash were students

Logandale school held vigil for teens

Two girls killed Tuesday in an accident on Interstate 15 near Mesquite were Moapa Valley High School seniors from Logandale, according to the school's Web site.

Lysha Marshall, 17, and Heather Wallace, 16, were with two other girls in a Ford Expedition traveling north when the vehicle veered into the median and overturned at 10:20 a.m., the Nevada Highway Patrol said.

Moapa Valley student Carolyn Becker suffered critical injuries in the accident and is hospitalized. Another student, Ashley Potter, suffered minor injuries.

The school held a candlelight vigil for the students on Tuesday.

Honea said evidence at the scene indicates that some of the passengers might not have been wearing seat belts.

Uncle wrote on June 15, 2009 07:25 PM: The original article is missing information. It allows those not close to the situation to assume that it was only 4 teenagers in the vehicle. It does not say there were 5 individuals in the vehicle including an adult driver.
The vehicle was not knowingly unsafe. Our hearts go out to the many people impacted by this accident, including the driver.

A Close Friend wrote on June 14, 2009 06:40 PM: I am very close to the family and just to set the record straight both girls had their seatbelts on, Heather was riding shotgun, and (Lenny) her father died when she was 9. Now how do you feel?! My deepest sympathies go to the family of all of the 4 girls in the car and the woman who was driving.

Stay off this web page and allow those of us to grieve and honor these beautiful girls memories and to mourn with the families that are suffering in this terrible tragedy.

Robin wrote on June 11, 2009 10:29 AM: I'm sure that these lovely girls were wearing their seatbelts. Ford has a known problem with the latching system on their seatbelts. I have lost two friends who were both avid seatbelt users. Both of them lost their lives in two separate accidents. One in a Ford Explorer, the other in a Ford Expedition. Both accidents were rollovers, both resulted in the occupants being ejected.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of all the girls.

That's what you have to say about this tragic incident?
This accident has affected multiple families, and all you can say is "shame on the father"?
SHAME ON YOU LENNY! For spouting such drivel.

My thoughts and prayers are with the families...
