Police seek teenager in slaying

Las Vegas Review-Journal

Las Vegas police on Thursday named a 15-year-old teen as a suspect in the slaying of an 18-year-old man found dead in the central valley last week.

Police said Kevin Vargas was wanted on a charge of murder with a deadly weapon. Police suspect he was the triggerman in the slaying of North Las Vegas resident Michael Guerrero.

    • The body was discovered June 24 in a desert lot at 2601 Holly Ave., near Vegas and Rancho drives.

    Police described Vargas as 5 feet 2 inches tall, about 120 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Police had not determined a motive in the slaying.

    Anyone with information about Kevin Vargas or the slaying can contact Crime Stoppers at 385-5555 or the Homicide Section at 828-3521.

    Oscar wrote on July 03, 2009 03:09 PM: 15 yr old Hispanic, with a gun, kills an 18 yr old Hispanic. Getting Illegal guns is pretty easy these days. Gangs all have underground resources for guns. Even in states where they are banned. The truly sad thing is, this Junior creep will be tried as a Juvenile, and get a very light sentence, and be back with the same gang in 18 months or less. We will be reading about his next victim in 18 months.
