High court suspends lawyer's license

CARSON CITY -- The license of a Las Vegas lawyer who regularly appears on KVBC-TV, Channel 3, was temporarily suspended Tuesday by the Supreme Court, pending resolution of disciplinary proceedings against him.

In the order, the Supreme Court said lawyer Douglas C. Crawford "appears to have misappropriated over $100,000 in client funds" and has commingled his personal funds with client funds.

"Additionally, he has attempted to prevent clients from complaining to the State Bar, and has failed to respond to bar counsel's repeated inquiries," the order notes.

Jim Rogers, the owner of Channel 3, said Crawford will be suspended from the television station pending final resolution of his case.

  • If he is found guilty of the charges, Roger said Crawford, whom he has known for many years, will no longer work for the television station.

"We wouldn't want anyone representing us who has honesty problems," Rogers said.

Crawford did not return calls for comment. His office was closed Tuesday.

In the order, the Supreme Court barred Crawford from withdrawing any funds from client trust account, or other accounts belonging to third parties, without the permission of the State Bar counsel or a court order.

Thomas Hubbard wrote on December 04, 2007 06:48 PM: Steven Altig is not an attorney I would recommend. I too was referred to him by Crawford and he has misrepresented me and is a very dishonest attorney. I have filed a complaint against him with the Nevada Bar and he is being dishonest with them in his response. He has spent more time on his response to the bar complaint than he ever has on my case. He did not not return my calls or even acknowledge me as a client for over 3 months prior to me filing the complaint with the bar.

More on Steve Altig wrote on June 28, 2007 09:20 AM: lay z you are full of shit.
Steve was fired from Woolson & Glass. A very promoinent law firm here in Vegas.
He worked for Doug Crawford. He obviously associates himself with a criminal atty.
I have been in the same courtroom with Steve Altig, he is very insecure in the courtroom and studders his words.
If you had four felonies maybe you should be in prison.

Lay Z wrote on June 26, 2007 05:47 AM: I retained doug in a criminal proceeding and was bounced to Altig. Steve did a great job on my case. I ultimately plead guilty to a misdemeanor, time served; which was an appropriate punishment for the actual situation. Understand however that I was originally being charged with 4 felonies! Steve was always ready fight for me and did. Good job Steve.

    Try Attorney Bryce Dickerson or
    Attorney Dawn Lozano

I retained him for nothing. He mady my situation worse than it was. If Altig is not commendable then who is? Who is a lawyer we can trust in Las Vegas?? I would like to settle, get a refund and move on to another lawyer who cares.

In reference to Altig, please do a google search before hiring this man. What I found was not to complimentary of this man. Altig's Legal experience is limited at best.

Then what? Sue him through another attorney? Theres a case that will never see daylight! (honor among thieves)
