Four new vans to shuttle veterans

REVIEW-JOURNAL

Nevada's Department of Disabled American Veterans donated four new vans Tuesday that will be used by the Department of Veterans Affairs to shuttle veterans to health care appointments in rural areas and around the Las Vegas Valley.

More than $100,000 was raised by the DAV to pay for the vans, which brings the fleet in the state to 27, said Bill Anton, DAV adjutant for Nevada.

    • "The DAV raises money every year to take care of Nevada's veterans. This shows that it goes to what we're telling our donors it goes to," Anton said.

    One of the vans will serve veterans in the Hawthorne area and another will be used in the Ely area. The other two will be used by veterans in Las Vegas and Henderson, Anton said.
