Clinton campaign rolls out group of women supporters

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on Tuesday rolled out a group of more than 100 prominent Nevada women supporters, adding another set of endorsements to her formidable list in the state.

Many of the members of Clinton's Nevada Women's Leadership Council had already been announced as part of her committees of Hispanic, black and other supporters, or separately, such as state Senate Minority Leader Dina Titus and state Treasurer Kate Marshall.

  • New names on the list included former County Commissioner Myrna Williams and MGM Mirage executive Punam Mather.

In an attempt to put a new twist on the latest in its deluge of big names and emphasize its grass-roots activity, the campaign brought members of the new council into its Las Vegas offices to mingle with volunteers.

The leadership council members will recruit rank-and-file women for the national Women for Hillary group, an outreach effort that is a major component of Clinton's campaign.

Williams said in an interview that it was an easy choice to support the New York senator and former first lady.

"I've always been a fan of hers, since the early days when she tried to get universal health care and was so smeared," Williams said.
