Three charged with shooting that killed one, wounded two

Las Vegas police arrested a man and two juveniles for a year-old drive-by shooting that left one man dead and two others wounded by gunfire.

Police arrested 20-year-old Shaundrell Gentry and two 16-year-old boys this week and booked them into local detention centers on multiple charges, including murder with a deadly weapon, attempted murder with a deadly weapon and discharging a firearm from a motor vehicle.

Authorities arrested the three in the shooting death of 18-year-old Marcus Williams, who was shot and killed on Sept. 29, 2006, at the Sunset Palms Apartments at 900 Doolittle Avenue, near Lake Mead and Martin Luther King boulevards.

Police found Williams and a juvenile wounded on the sidewalk in front of the apartment complex. Both were taken to University Medical Center, where Williams died.

A third juvenile walked into UMC later that night with a gunshot wound in his hand.

"Due to the hard work of the detectives involved in this case and the cooperation of the community, we were able to solve this case that may otherwise have gone unsolved," said Sgt. Russell Shoemaker with the homicide unit.

Shoemaker said the shooting appeared to be gang-related.

Police withheld the names of the juveniles arrested.

THEY TOOK A LOVED ONE FROM ME AND HIS FAMILY MEMBERS, AND TOOK A FATHER FROM HIS CHILD. MARCUS AT THE AGE OF 18 HAD LIVED A GREAT BUT HARD LIFE AND WOULD BE HERE TO SPEAK FOR HIMSELF IF IT WASNT FOR THESE YOUNG BOYS LEAD BY AN ADULT OUT OF IGNORANCE. MY QUESTION TO THE PARENTS IS " HOW DO U FEEL ABOUT UR CHILDRENS ACTIONS"? AND HAVE U EVER EXPLAIN TO THEM THAT THEY HAVE JUST VOLUNTEERED THE REST OF THIER LIVES' BY TAKING MARCUS WILLIAMS'S LIFE WITH THE INTENTIONS OF TAKING OTHERS. I PERSONALLY, AS A PROUD PARENT NOW, FEEL LIKE I WOULD DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO PROTECT MY CHILD FROM WHAT TROUBLES LIFE MAY BRING, DEATH, AND THE JAIL HOUSE.
WHILE ITS INEVITABLE TO BRING BACK MARCUS WILLIAMS, HOWEVER ITS OPTIONAL TO REALLY GRIEVE AND FEEL THE SORROW THAT HIS FRIENDS AND FAMILY HAVE FELT FOR ALMOST A YEAR & WILL FEEL FOREVER IN OUR DAYS WITH OUT
OUR MARCUS WILLIAMS. AND I JUST WANT TO SAY EVEN THOUGH I WANT TO SEE THEM GET EVERY PIECE OF MISERY THAT I HAVE RECIEVED, THEY WILL NEVER FELL PAIN LIKE THIS UNTIL KARMA STRIKES.
GOD BLESS ALL THE SUSPECTS BECAUSE "VENGES IS MINES" SAID THE LORD AND I JUST PRAY THAT ALL THIER HEARTS ARE MADE STRONG ENOUGH FOR WHAT SHALL COME FROM ALL OF THIS.
THANK YOU!

IN LOVING MEMORY OF MARCUS WILLIAMS.
SIGNED THE LOVE OF HIS LIFE!143{I LOVE YOU}

Maybe if the state had an automatic penalty of death for violent offenders incidents such as this would not happen as often..just a thought.

I hope the law doesn't lower the charges or make a deal and can keep this scum off the streets. Life in prison should do it. The 16 year olds should be there as well , they are old enough to do the time for the crime. If they are turned loose some other mother will probably be morning the loss of their loved one because of this trash...

p.s. Kudos to the homicide detective. Keep up the good work.

I WOULD LIKE TO THANK DETECTIVE CARTER FOR MAKING ME SEE THER IS LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL. NOW I JUST HAVE TO GET THOUGH THE TRIAL. I DON'T WANT THESE KILLERS TO GET NO DEAL. I WANT THEM TO DO THE REST OF OR CLOSE TO THE REST OF THIER LIVES IN JAIL. THE SAD PART OF IT ALL IS THES SAME KIDS USE TO COME OVER TO MY HOUSE AND SPLEEP AND EAT WHEN THEY HAD NO WHERE ELES TO GO. I WILL MISS MY SON FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE. I WILL NEVER KNOW WHAT HE COULD HAVE BEEN. NOT ONLY THAT MY OTHER SON WILL NEVER FULLY RECOVER FROM SEEING HIS BROTHER/BEST FRIEND KILLED. HE IS VERY ANGRY AND HURT, WHO WILL HELP HIM?? WE WENT TO THE VICTIM WHITNESS AND GOT NO REPONSE EITHER. WHO ARE WE SUPPOSED TO TURN TO FOR HELP AND SUPPORT??
