NORM: Really big bucks, so little party time

The price to promote a new Las Vegas nightclub is rising faster than Britney Spears' legal bills.

Spears showed up after midnight, said less than 10 words to the crowd during her 40 minutes to open LAX nightclub at the Luxor and an hour at sister club Noir Bar and earned a quick $250,000 for her time.

That's $2,500 a minute, a far cry from what it cost to bring in a celebrity less than three years ago, when a private plane ride, a nice room and some incidentals did the trick.

Spears' star power brought in a packed house for her highly advertised appearance at LAX, which has a capacity of 1,100.

  • It was the second time in eight months that Spears made $250,000 for a brief appearance at a Las Vegas nightclub. Her New Year's Eve countdown deal at Pure ended prematurely when she was carried out by a bodyguard before 1 a.m.

But we hear Paris and Nicky Hilton will take the soaring appearance fee trend to record heights this New Year's, with a $500,000 jackpot to co-host at Pure, the sister club of LAX.

At least this trip was uneventful for Spears, who has been making headlines for everything from erratic behavior to child custody battles with her ex, Kevin Federline.

The late-arriving Spears, who was under contract to spend at least 90 minutes for the LAX appearance, flew in with some girlfriends, and hung out with Criss Angel at both clubs while smoking and drinking champagne.

She reportedly will open the MTV Video Music Awards next Sunday at the Palms with some Angel-assisted illusions.

Anyone who thinks that paying these moronic celeb-bimbos piles of money to "show up" at an opening will somehow give the club some added prestige is WRONG!! Many people avoid these clubs like the plague - after all, most people don't care about these idiot "celebrity wannabes" and don't want to spend time anywhere near them! Hopefully, these clubs will keep throwing good money after bad pandering to these people until they are broke & out of business! Spend the money on a worthwhile cause for a change instead of just funding the next rehab stint for these people!
