Jackson a pervert gets any drug he wants and it's perfectly OK.

I have major pain in my legs and back and have to beg doctors for even weak pain killers!

Nice world (country) we live in!

Pain Meds Out of Control wrote on February 08, 2010 01:46 PM: As to the specific ffacts in this case, I am uncertain. What is certain is that Pain Management meds are over-prescribed every day in most pain management practices.

Patients find themselves dependent on these prescriptions by their second doctor visit.

Pain meds are a vital tool in the doctor's tool kit, but only one. However, it is an easy one for overworked docs to turn to for immediate relief for suffering patients. Nevertheless, a doctor's limited time is not an excuse for the easy solution. Force your doctor to work with you to find other solutions (perhaps even eastern medicine solutions--meditation, massage, accupuncture, yoga, exercise, etc. for pain management). There are many avenues to manage pain.

Pain meds generally treat only the symptom of pain and are not intended to be a permanent solution.

Unfortunately, once the pain is handled, the immediate need for a better solution is resolved and patients find themselves slipping through the cracks into dependency/addiction. There are too many soccer moms and dads with dependencies. And such dependencies grow as tolerance grows. At some point you may find yourself approaching a lethal dose if you ever find yourself in need of pain meds under the management of an overworked doc.

Be aware and take some responsibility for your medical care.
