Angle accuses Reid’s campaign of dirty tricks over old website

Sharron Angle’s campaign on Monday accused Sen. Harry Reid’s campaign of “dirty tricks” and breaking the law by posting a copy of Angle’s original website on the Internet without permission.

The Reid campaign responded by taking down the duplicate website after Angle’s lawyer sent Reid a “cease and desist” letter.

The letter also complained Reid’s campaign could have gained access to names and addresses of Angle supporters who might have submitted information while the fake website was live.

“Make no mistake, the Reid campaign was forced to take this site down because they were breaking several laws and trying to deceive the voters,” Angle spokesman Jerry Stacy said in a statement. “You’re going to see a lot of dirty tricks like that from Reid’s campaign.

“Harry Reid may feel like he is above the law when he’s off in Washington, but back here in Nevada we expect better from our leaders. This is just one more reason Harry Reid has got to go.”

The Reid campaign dismissed Angle’s legal action as a “frivolous lawsuit.”

The campaign made no apologies about posting Angle’s original website after she launched a new trimmed down website that omitted some of her more controversial positions such as eliminating the Education Department and softened others.

“These are Sharron Angle’s positions in Sharron’s own words from Sharron’s own website. What was good enough for Nevada voters to read during the primary should be good enough for them now,” Reid campaign spokesman Jon Summers said in a statement.
