A man suspected of drunken driving was arrested Tuesday after striking and killing a bicyclist in Summerlin.

The crash happened just before 8 a.m. on Rampart Boulevard near Del Webb Boulevard. A tan sport utility vehicle driven by 38-year-old Feliciano Gonzalez hit the bicyclist from behind, sending him into the landscaped shoulder. The name of the 27-year-old bicyclist, who died at University Medical Center, was not released.

Gonzalez left the scene and was stopped by police at Rampart and Cheyenne Avenue. Police said alcohol contributed to the crash, and he was arrested on charges of driving under the influence resulting in death and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death. It was the 45th traffic-related fatality in the department's jurisdiction this year.

Knowing Feliciano fairly well, when he does die he will graciously go to be with his Heavely Father in Heaven. He made a very poor decision. However, that does not take away from his faith and the relationship he has with the good Lord. May God have mercy on your soul criminals.suck, and may one day you mature to get past being such a judgemental soul.

To join LVJay's comment above: I have also known Feliciano for many years. He is an extraordinarily hard working, upstanding, intelligent and loving individual. This is truly a devastating situation for both parties involved and my heart and prayers are especially with the victim, his family and loved ones. Any harsh comments made on Feliciano's behalf are clearly individuals who do not know him and who delight in utilizing these blog sites as an anonymous platform to sling racial hatred based on a photo and a name. The fine details of this incident remain vague, but most important, two lives filled with supportive family and friends have been infinitely and terribly affected. My thoughts and prayers are with both families at this difficult time.

This guy was such a great person that he didn't even have the guts to remain at the scene of the "accident". I would like to see very harsh punishment for those who leave the scene of an accident as this is happening all too often. It is bad enough that they cause death and destruction but then they don't even have the spine to take responsibility for their actions. This guy should not be charged with leaving the scene of an accident with death. He should be charged with murder. Hope he rots in jail.

Francisco De Jesus was the name of the cyclist. May he rest in peace.

Nevada is soft on drunk drivers. My brother was killed by a drunk driver. The DA plea bargained for 2 to 5 years. What a joke. I hope they both (the DA, and the drunk driver) feel the pain I feel now.

What "accident"? He ran into him with a SUV.

Good people can make bad choices.
I was not defending those choices; merely pointing out that this tragic accident has nothing to do with race or politics.

LVJay - if he is such an upstanding citizen, what the hell is he doing driving drunk, early in the morning, and killing YES KILLING an innocent person who hasn't yet lived his life. My heartfeld sympathy to the family of this latest murder. To Gonzalez, I don't care what your nationality is...you ruined not only your life, but murdered an innocent victim!

Gonzalez is a U.S. citizen with a beautiful family. He is an astonishing talent with a better job than what most of us enjoy, and is surrounded by a community of people who love him. This accident is a great tragedy; but to turn this horrible event into a platform for racist and political attacks based solely on his last name is shameful and disgusting. I'm sure that those who would see America destroyed are delighted that the willfully uniformed among us are willing to cooperate by tearing this country apart with no regard for the facts.
