Board refuses to lift doctor's suspension

RENO -- A Henderson doctor who has been sued by several families of patients who died after he prescribed painkillers for them will not see his suspension lifted, the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners ruled Friday.

Kevin Buckwalter lost his right to prescribe drugs last November following several incidents involving patient prescriptions. His medical license was not suspended, but his brother, Bryce, told the board he has not practiced since then.

  • "He is a good doctor," said Bryce Buckwalter, adding his brother had gone through training in the use of pain management drugs.

Under terms of a settlement proposed to the board by lawyers from both Kevin Buckwalter and the board, Buckwalter would admit to three counts of medical malpractice, pay a $4,000 fine and be required to give board investigators unfettered access to his medical records. Then the suspension would be lifted.

But without comment, the board rejected the settlement.

With the reduced attorney fees and the caps, no competent attorney will take the case. So, when you say it is sad that lawyers will not pursue these cases, you idiots have nobody to blame but yourselves. America has fallen to such an intellectual low, that the voters can be easily manipulated . So, learn to live with it, it isn't going to improve.

My wife was given THREE different pain meds for her medical condition. Then she was given METHADONE on top of all the other meds. Two days later she was rushed to the ER with an overdose. The hospital thought she might have done this, I told them she just followed doctors orders. The hospital could not get ahold of the dr for a day and a half. She sat there OVERDOSING.Finally the ER Supervisor gave her narcan to reverse her from Dying. I finally got ahold of the Doctor and asked if she knew where my wife was and she told me NO.When I told Her she was in the ER for an overdose.. Because of the new med's she gave my wife, and almost died because no one could get ahold of her. I then told her I was going to report her to the main Doctor about her lack of caring. Her answer to myself and my wife came in the mail Two days later. She was being dropped by the office and no longer allowed services. Nothing Doctors do shocks me anymore. We finally went to a pain specilist and have not had any problems since. It's really sad to think a Lawyer would not go after these fine examples of So called DOCTORS!!!
