Mayweather hearing delayed on domestic violence charges

Boxer Floyd Mayweather's domestic violence case is again facing a delay.

A hearing set for today in the former Olympian's felony case is expected to be continued, according to the district attorney's office.

Mayweather is facing felony coercion, grand larceny and robbery charges in connection with a Sept. 9, 2010, incident involving his three children and their mother, Josie Harris.

He is free on $31,000 bail in the case.

This is at least the third time the preliminary hearing has been delayed. At a preliminary hearing prosecutors present evidence to a justice of the peace, who then determines whether there is enough evidence to send the case to trial.

Harris has accused Mayweather of domestic violence in the past, only to recant her story or stop cooperating with police.

In December 2003, she told police he assaulted her outside a nightclub during an argument over another woman. But at the July 2005 trial, Harris testified that she had lied about being beaten. She told the jury Mayweather was a "teddy bear" who had never laid a hand on her. The jury acquitted Mayweather of the felony domestic violence charge.

The boxer also faces a misdemeanor battery charge in connection with a Nov. 15 incident involving a Southern Highlands security guard over parking issues. A bench trial in that case is set for Nov. 4.

Floyd is laughing at our system. Like always he will get nothing and continue to laugh all the way to the bank. He will pay off his attorneys to pay off the victim and nothing will be done until the next allegation where the cycle will repeat itself. Keep entertaining Americans with sports and you can do whatever you want.

What is the basis for claiming that this is a defense continuance? Although delay, delay, delay really is the standard defense tactic, without any inside knowledge, it is just as plausible that Rogers needs the continuance because the Baby Momma is likely to recant again. So I can't blame this dealy on Floyd.

I too want to know if Ms. Harris was prosecuted for her 2003/2005 conduct. Etiher she filed a false police report or she committed perjury -- the bit** needs to be punished for it.

And doesn't Floyd have some more pending criminal messes? Another incident with his cars at So Highland (in addition to the one with the Nov 4 hearing date), and the Skating Rink. and wasn't there an incident on Arville where he forced some other fool over and was waving a gun around?

The comments on here are such BS. If he had the complexion for protection this frivolous case would have been thrown out. Instead the prosecutor is dragging this event out due to lack of evidence- No judge would allow a defense this much time. Constant delays. I believe Mayweather's attorney has only asked for one delay- which is customary- also the case has to be worked around the schedule of three people, The Judge, the Attorneys- Mayweathers schedule does not matter if he is allowed to do anything it is at the discretion of the judge. Such BS. In the last three years many people with Money have been put behind bars. Martha Stewart was arrested. She has way more money and clout than Mayweather-although she is a woman. The logic here is skewed. Although to be honest arresting Mayweather would not be in the best interest of Las Vegas or Nevada, unless they plan on having him fight out of prison ala James Scott who fought on CBS, NBC, and HBO till he turned down ole Bob Arum and all that evaporated as well as the profit he made from fighting on televised events but I digress.

This case is but another example of how color affects justice. No, not black, white, tan or yellow. Green! When you've got green, you can buy justice! OJ, MJ, Robert Blake and Ted (Lady Killer) Kennedy all did it and there are hundreds more just like those scumbags!

I have met a few title boxers before and they all are surprisingly nice and polite. On the other hand we have this POS to even the statistics out. All his hanger on's are the same as well. I did the only thing i can do the alst 5 times he fought, i did not pay to watch and i suggest everyone do them same and he will be out of the ring faster thatn you can say ghetto rat.

Amazing how the wealthy law breakers are able to manipulate the law and stay out of jail. Look at the hepatitis doctor, how long ago did that happen? Long ago enough for him to move and hide all his wealth and get himself declared mentally incompetent. May weather is a hot tempered thug with money and should be put in jail before he really hurts someone. Too bad the judges can't be held liable for their actions.

The mantra of every defense lawyer whose client has money: "delay, delay, delay". Floyd's lawyers fight harder in court than he does in the ring. Floyd will fight women and security guards but he won't fight Manny. I'll bet his girlfriend's guard was down when he hit her too. Million dollar talent, 10 cent head. Nice legacy Floyd. You'll be remembered in boxing history as a punk and a thug who likes to sharpen his fists on common folk. It could have been so much better but you put yourself there.

Once again this woman-beating coward gets a delay over the domestic violence case. What is wrong with this justice system here in Las Vegas. I really hope he fights the Pac Man so he could teach this coward a lesson over beating women and threatening children.
