Halverson expected to testify to grand jury next week

District Judge Elizabeth Halverson is expected to temporarily leave the hospital Tuesday to testify before a grand jury, which will be impaneled to hear evidence related to the attempted murder charges filed against her husband.

Halverson has been hospitalized since Sept. 4, when her husband, Edward Halverson, is alleged to have beaten her multiple times in the head with a cast iron skillet. The judge placed a dramatic 911 call during which she tried to keep her husband appeased while begging the dispatcher for help.

It's bad enough we are still paying her salary when all she has been doing for the past year is sitting on her duff.

Where do I sign up for this kind of gig?

Sometimes people are pushed beyond what they can endure. We do not know what happened in the Halverson household entirely, but I did hear her continue to taunt him AFTER the fact, which was entirely stupid on her part. It is also a shame that taxpayer's money is continuously spent on a woman who abused her own staff, and basically terrorizes people what from I have read, then calls foul when she is held accountable. What did she do to her husband behind closed doors? I do not condone him hurting her. He should have walked away. However, I cannot imagine having to live with a woman like that and walking away with all of my faculties intact.

Was she faking the skull fractures too?

Honestly, is there no end to how nasty this newspaper is going to be to this woman? Talk about kicking somebody when they're down.

If she had been randomly attacked in a parking lot she would get much more sympathy. She married this guy and was a judge. Common sense from less than a judge would tell you not to deal with a felon like she did. Trying to throw someone out when you are their only meal ticket for years can be dangerous and it proved so to her. To divorce this guy would have cost her a lot and maybe that is why she hesitated. We don't know. It probably is best that due to the obvious lack of judgement in dealing with her husband she is not sitting on the bench anymore. One poster said she should get help. I agree. It's true, the many victims of random abuse are not near the attention of this case involving a woman who clearly married trouble and is now suffering for it.
