State officials search ACORN office in voter registration fraud probe

Agents with the state attorney general's and secretary of state's offices served a search warrant this morning on the new ACORN headquarters. The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now office is located at 953 E. Sahara Ave.

The warrant was part of an ongoing investigation into suspected voter registration fraud. Employees are suspected of using false addresses or false names, including those of former Dallas Cowboys, according to the secretary of state's office.

You may have been with integrity.but maybe just the only one! I for one am appalled and very upset about the possibility of voter fraud.

Timothy Crawford wrote on October 09, 2008 10:23 AM: ACORN does good work. I should know because I worked as a Community Organizer and Activist for them back in the early 90's. I didn't forge any voter registrations, instead I went door to door to the most disenfranchised neighborhoods in Prince Georges County, Maryland and the District of Columbia to help neighborhoods stop criminal business owners from dumping garbage in their alley ways and streets during the dark of night. We also helped communities fight the government and force them to condemn, demolish or heavily fine slumlords and lazy property owners who left properties empty, unkept and unattended, which almost always turns into hangouts for addicts.

The stupidity of a few members does not cancel out all the good work I, and so many have done via this organization. The bad works must stop. The good works must continue.

    My advice to the group?

Cut out this fraudulent garbage! Learn to better manage your organizers and do it fast. Every negative article written about your organization detracts from the good people who support you.

Chetnik wrote on October 09, 2008 07:21 AM: Ok, it's kinda hard not to think of Obama when you hear ACORN. After all, they did donate money to Obama's presidential campaign. Also, Obama worked for them during his days as an attorney. We all know Obama says one thing to please one person then he says teh complete opposite to please someone else. Look at his record. Obama had a measly 45% attendance voting record. This guy doesn't even show up to vote on issues in the united states senate. And if he does show up he votes "present" so he doesn't have to hurt himself politically. Bottom line is I throw out their policies. I look at a canidates character first and foremost when deciding who I am going to vote for and Obama has some serious character issues. He won't show his allegiance to the USA during the national anthem. Who refuses to put their hand over their heart during it? OBAMA! Then just look at the people he is associated with: Franklin Raines, Jim Johnson, Rev. Wright, Tony Rezko, William Ayers ect. I can see it now, Obama and wright doing some blow then as they come out of the bathroom stall Rezko passes them a spliff. Smoke-a-bowl

Fred wrote on October 08, 2008 07:37 PM: Yes Frank,
Lets all get behind our God Obama. He is our saviour and needs to worshiped.

GET ON YOU KNEES NOW AND PRAY TO YOUR GOD OBAMA!!!!!!!!!!

Republicans should be imprisoned for the way they think!!!!!!!!!!!!

Frank wrote on October 08, 2008 02:24 AM: ACORN is a VERY liberal group...This could be the Dems trying to play like Republicans....It might be the only way to win an election these days...God knows what has happened in Florida and Ohio in the last two elections were far from legitimate.

Whatever happens we seriously need to get behind Obama. He's the only hope we have left. It's good to see so much support for him all the sudden.

KC wrote on October 08, 2008 02:19 AM: Oh great, another meaningless story the McAngry campaign will try to accuse Obama of poor judgement on. What a joke......Senator Obama has been nothing but class through this process while Senator McAngry appears confused and lost. And speaking of bad judgement....nice VP pick John! That was the day the desperation became obvious and this thing was over. McCain is an awful candidate and Obama is as good as they come. This really shouldn't be close come Nov. 4.

IndyVoter wrote on October 08, 2008 02:10 AM: Amanda and Ryan,

You all are drinking some blue kool-aid but I have to admit that Obama has been far more impressive on the national stage than McCain has. I think is one is just about over and as true Americans it will be time to rally behind our next President.

Amanda wrote on October 08, 2008 02:07 AM: Way to go Ryan!

Obama is clearly the only man for the job.

I've never been so inspired to do good things by a public figure!

    First time voter for Obama!

Ryan wrote on October 08, 2008 02:05 AM: Obama was once again clearly the better candidate in the debate last night.

This is the greatest man of our time. A true LEADER and HERO!

I can't wait to vote and be apart of America's climb back to the top!

    OBAMA for AMERICA!

Holmes wrote on October 08, 2008 01:45 AM: O.k. I take it back. Instead of voting Reid out of office, we should IMPEACH him. NOW!!!!

I'll bet it's not that the state gets nothing, it's probably that just the Senators that have been opposing it get all the money for themselves.

We really need to get rid of these idiots. And we need to get a proposition on the ballot to impose term limits on these little ticks, before they suck the life out of us.

    Where do we start?
