  • No cost for the project was given in the release but Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Gary Loveman told the Macau Daily Times the cost was $25.8 million.

In September 2007, the casino giant acquired the 175-acre Macau Orient Golf Course and rights to a land concession contract for $577.7 million.

Some gaming observers believed Harrah’s had planned to transform the land into a hotel-casino site before Chinese officials announced in April no new casino licenses would be approved.

Harrah’s owns six golf courses in the United States, including Rio Secco Golf Club in Henderson and Cascata Golf Club in Boulder City.

I can't believe they would throw that amount of money away on something that probably won't become a casino any time soon. Oh wait, it's Harrah's...you gotta believe any dumb thing they do.

Harrah's could collapse any day ... now that would be news.
