Killer involved with juror sentenced to life in prison

The convicted killer who exchanged steamy letters with a juror who served in his trial was sentenced today to spend life in prison.

District Judge Valerie Adair sentenced Ricky Vazquez, 27, for the 2006 drug-related slaying of Richard Morris. Vazquez will be eligible for parole after 20 years.

  • The judge also sentenced Vazquez' co-defendant, Lee Vincent, 24, to spend life in prison with the possibility of parole after 40 years.

During the sentencing hearing, Vazquez told Morris' family that the slaying was a tragedy and that no one deserves to die. But Vazquez also said he was caught up in the gang life and drug dealing.

"We choose this," he said. "You got to be prepared to die."

Marnie Ramirez, the juror who contacted Vazquez and sent him sexually explicit letters, attended the sentencing and wept in the courtroom after he was given prison time.

Ramirez, 21, who is married and has a child, said she will continue to see Vazquez while he's behind bars.

"I fell in love with him," she said after the sentencing.

Herb wrote on January 13, 2009 10:53 PM: Alhough not nearly as bad as Ricky himself, Jess (and Marnie) is what's wrong with people today. Jess says "don't judge". Yet we all judge, it's just a matter of what we consider important enough to judge. A decent person could never fall in love with a killer. In fact a decent person would fall in hate with a killer.

Then we have today's typical people like Marnie and Jess, they don't judge on character, it means nothing to them, nothing at all. They judge on shallow values like if they think the man is hot or not. That's all that matters to them.

It's an outrage that Ricky will be released on parole in 20 years. I blame the criminal groupies for these light sentences, they want these dangerous killers in circulation so they have the opportunity to have sexual intercourse with them.

The ideal punishment for drug dealing or using killers such as Ricky is death by medical experimentation. Since they like drugs so much they should be forced to become lab rats. Test new drugs and medical operations on them. If they work at least the killer gave something back to mankind. If the criminal dies in the process tough luck, they shouldn't have murdered anyone in the first place.

I called Ricky my friend once and trusted him as i would anyone else (make no mistake).. i just hope that this woman's husband knows what kind of person she really is and runs as far away as possible. God forbid she finds someone like Rick who isn't looking at 20y in prison, and subjects her daughter to this type of person who she is apparently drawn to. The truly SAD part of this; other than the untimely death or Mr. Morris, is that this woman will eventually give up on Rick.. perhaps finding another scum of the earth again (because obviously she is drawn to scum)...take her daughter away from her father and subject her young daughter to the type of men she is drawn to. I just pray that her husband knows what kind of woman he married... (even though he probably isn't much better than the other men she appears to be drawn to)...this really is a classic example of how messed up our society and morals have become.

That's why they call it a jury of your peers. On nitwit judging another. As someone once said, I wouldn't want to be judged by someone who isn't smart enough to get out of jury duty.

    Pretty funny stuff.

I'd like to see the death penalty used a bit more. In these tough economic times wouldn't it be better to let this killer get sliced up by one of Harry Reid's wind turbines?

As for the groupie, she is obviously a mental case. After she has lost the husband and child and loses her killer to his new lover in prison, maybe she will have the capacity to reflect on the extra pain she caused the victims family and how she is really just wasting her own life. Or she could be looking to get on Dr. Phil. Who knows?

No wonder criminals get away with violent crimes, they have juries that feel sorry for them. She is a total Moron with a capital "M". What bank does she work at? I feel sorry for her husband and child. Her husband should kill her, and he would walk as a free man.
