  • The dead man, identified as Francisco Alvarez, 26, was found about a mile from the shooting, sitting alone in the passenger seat of a blue Toyota 4Runner parked in the driveway of his home at 912 Webb Ave. near Eastern and Owens Avenue in North Las Vegas.

The 4Runner is owned by Alvarez, his family confirmed. He shares the Webb Street home with his sister and brother-in-law.

A resident at the corner of Alvin Street and Elm said she was awakened by gunshots around 4:45 a.m.

The 4Runner had crashed into the chain-link fence across her driveway and was stalled. The driver of the truck had been shot and the passenger switched seats with the injured driver, she said.

“I told him to wait, because we’d already called police, and there was a fire truck right down the street,” she said. “But he just said, ‘Call the police,’ and left.”

She didn’t see another car, but earlier her son had seen a blue or purple four-door car in pursuit of the truck. A passenger from the car fired several shots at the 4Runner and fled the scene, he said.

There was no description of the suspects, but the resident said the victims were all Hispanic. She said there are bullet holes in the side of her house, and she believes the victims might have returned fire.

“That would be the only way I’d get it (bullet holes) in mine (house),” she said. “The other (suspects’) car was facing the other way.”

According to police, the three victims were returning from a nightclub, possibly with women, when they were approached by an unknown number of suspects. Police said they don’t believe the shooting to be gang related.

The resident at Alvin and Elm said she heard women screaming after the gunshots were fired, but didn’t see women with the victims.

Steve Sledge, 47, lives a few blocks from the shooting. He investigated the scene to make sure his friends were OK.

“This area is kind of bad,” he said. “There’s lots of drug activity. I stay in my home most of the time.”

why does a person have to be an idiot for stating that whites kill people also? here is why mr/ms. tired of it.because when a WHITE person is murdered,or arrested for murder, you whites never bring up race, all you see are post that say,"I hope they rot in jail",or "I hope they get the death penalty".but whenever its a minority,YOU WHITES always mention race.YOUR excuses are old and tired, because you are doing everything that WHITES have always done about the crimes that they have commited.dodge, deflect, deny, and debate. mr/ms tired of it,how many whites ever stood trail for the plight of the american indidan? zero, the legal, and illegal slave trade? zero.countless overthrows of foriegn goverments in the name of WHITE AMERICAN interest? zero.they all have done the same thing that you are doing now,you whites always say,"get over it,move on,that argument is old,and tired".and thanks for letting me know that you are the moral ground for the proportionate number of homicides that take place in any particular neighborhood, based on the victims,or perps race.you also need to read the post more carefully when you are the one calling someone race baiters.it is the WHITES who are always doing the baiting, and the minorities are just responding to them.as for roll models, you are in no position talk due to the fact that everything the white man has ever accomplished (stealing this country just one of them)he has stolen from someone else.give me my dead tupac shakur,or your lying thieving white man stealing bernard madoff any day

You hit the nail on the head.
    Key word, "DIGNITY"
It appears to be a lack of dignity in all races here in the U.S..
Doesn't matter who it is... if we started being mord dignified and less selfish we'd get along, but, it's downhill from here.
Thank God i'll be dead in a couple of years.

Korea where everyone (except a few) get the same of everything. Along with that, they can't voice their stupid opinions like yours. The wage disparity is because some want to work while others wait for entitlements. Have you ever, even one time, seen an unemployed black person waiting for a job at Home Depot or Star Nursery? Nope - NEVER. Try to earn money legally - no gangsta junk and no drug dealing. There are many parts of this world that are financially poor, but they still live with dignity. Not like the people you think should get more money.

ron wrote on June 29, 2009 01:07 PM: And we're tried of blaming everyone in one race or gender. If you investigate the statistics you'd know that crime stats have more to do with your income level than with your race. And since people of color are more likely to have lower income because of years and years of discrimination it stands to reason they have higher numbers in the ranks of the low income. So quit blaming the race and blame the culprit - lack of education and low income.
