Energy Daily: DOE abandoning Yucca Mountain plans

Internal Department of Energy budget documents obtained by a Washington, D.C.-area trade publication show the department is abandoning its effort to license the planned Yucca Mountain nuclear waste repository.

"All license defense activities will be terminated in December 2009," according to the budget request cited by the publication, The Energy Daily.

What a tremendous loss for Nevada wrote on November 09, 2009 06:09 PM: This cowboy, sorry to insult cowboys, knucklehead Reid has got to go. Nevada has lost a great project, billions of dollars, and thousands of high paying jobs. Thanks for nothing, Reid. With fools like this representing Nevada is it any wonder Nevada is sinking in the Obama, Reid supported, Depression? What a hack. Wonder how much money Reid is getting? And don't insult the snakes, either.

No surprise here. Harry takes money from the coal burning utilities he so opposes as well as the brothels up North. Referring to him as a `snake' is kind. Usually when someone sells themself for money there is another term that is used.

Do what I say, not what I do wrote on November 09, 2009 04:25 PM: Every time sleazy Harry gets a chance he publicly bashes nuclear energy and Yucca Mountain, but quietly, and privately, he is in bed financially, with the very same industries!!! This guy has to go in 2010. Does he think Nevada voters are total idiots?

This little fund raiser may have slipped under Nevada’s radar, but the public has a right to know what this snake is up to-

Just a wild guess...you do not have a science degree do ya?

Since you are most likely an NWO socialist, why don't you look to the more "civilized" France and see where there domestic energy comes from.

Oh, for extra credit...Please provide the efficiencies of the following:

    Nuclear power
    Wind power
    Solar power

    Thanks for playing!!!

I believe your "perscription" marijuana is missing you.

Smells Fishy to Me wrote on November 09, 2009 04:14 PM: This sounds like a poker game to me. Instead of the Dept of Energy asking for money to continue the license and Congress saying no, the Energy Dept makes the first move?? Sounds like they are calling the President's/Reid's bet. Don't count that Dept of Energy boss Chinaman Chu out to fast.

Death by 1,000 duck bites wrote on November 09, 2009 03:59 PM: Seems like the Dems keep inflicting wounds on Nevada's economy. Another $100M+ out of our economy with the Yucca shutdown.

A anti-gambling President that tells Fed agencies not to come to Vegas and encourages private business to stay away.

A Congress that wants to stick it to the middle class with ObamaCare (Note that the House bill taxes millionaires. The Senate version won't do this, but instead puts a tax on insurance companys that will pass it down to us).

Leana wrote on November 09, 2009 03:07 PM: Thank you Harry for helping put the nail in this horrible idea that we should have never spent a dime on. And for all the idiots that want their money back and want to blame Harry Reid or complain it is the DEMS fault, do your research. They only NEVADA was selected never had anything to do with science and everything to do with the fact we only had two reps in Washington. And as far as what to do with, stop making more, dry cask storage and say howdy to solar and wind. Sorry guys, we finally get to say HELL NO WE WON"T GLOW!!!!!!

eric S wrote on November 09, 2009 03:07 PM: It's a shell game. I won't believe Yucca Mt. is dead until they implode the facility.
