Former NBA star Antoine Walker will pay more than $12,800 a month to the Clark County district attorney's bad check program in order to make good on gambling markers totaling more than $900,000.

Defense attorney Jonathan Powell and Chief Deputy District Attorney Bernie Zadrowski announced the agreement today before Justice Court Judge Melanie Andress-Tobiasson.

As part of the payment plan, Walker agreed to waive his preliminary hearing and Andress-Tobiasson said she would postpone binding over Walker to District Court. She said if the former Boston Celtic misses a single monthly payment, she will send him up to District Court "so fast it will make his head spin."

Walker racked up nearly $1 million in gambling debt to three Las Vegas casinos, and he also owes hundreds of thousands of dollars in unpaid markers to casinos in Lake Tahoe.

Zadrowski said the $12,835 monthly payment represents a minimum. If Walker finds employment, the monthly payment could increase to $21,391 per month. Also, Walker agreed to forfeit the $135,000 cash bail he posted after his arrest earlier this year, which will constitute the first payment to the casinos.

No team is going to sign this overweight one dimensional player, he has p*ssed all of his money away. Good luck collecting this debt over the next 40 years

This is a joke. According to www.basketball-reference.com Walker was a 1st round, 6th overall pick in 1996 and played 12 years in the NBA. His career earnings? over $108M, including $8.8M for the 2008-09 season. An average guy like me would probably have 25% of my paycheck garned every week.

Based upon Antoine's financial history - this is a big mistake for the DA. He should be forced to come up with the money now, or you'll never see it. This guy is a scam artist and Judge Anress-Tobiasson fell for it. He has the assets.

GAMBLING MARKERS AND BAD CHECKS SHOULD NOT BE THE SAME THING. LET THE ALMIGHTY HOTELS AND THE EMPLOYEES MAKING THE DECISIONS TO GET RICH ON THE BACKS OF DEGENERATE GAMBLERS BE ON THIER SHOULDERS. I'M SURE THAT IF HE HAD ASKED AN ODDS MAKER, HIS ODDS OF GETTING EVEN, HE DIDN'T STAND A CHANCE. THE HOTEL CALLS IT GAMBLING AND I CALL IT CONTRIBUTING TO THE DELINQUINCY OF AN ADULT, HE NEVER STOOD A CHANCE. NO ONE FORCED HIM TO GAMBLE, BUT SIGN YOUR NAME AND GET A GOOD TIME IS AWFUL TEMPTING. HOW COME YOU NEVER HEAR OF THE GAMBLER THAT WON BIG. I'M SURE HE WAS PROVIDED WITH FREE BOOZE AND BROADS AND THE TEMPTATION WAS WAY TO GREAT. I'LL MAKE PAYMENTS TO YOU AND THANKS FOR THE GOOD TIME. I THINK THE JUSTICE SYSTEM SHOULD NOT BE USED BY THE HOTELS LOAN SHARKING MONEY TO SOME DUMB SUCKER. LET THEM FEND FOR THEMSELVES AND RUN AN HONEST GAME.
