I don't think they believe it, but that's what they're shoveling. I suspect the problem is that 40% of the population in the area are seniors and 100% of them are likely to seek the available doses if they were permitted, leaving none for the resort workers, Fry's Electronics employees, cab drivers and medical/responder people.

@Me: It takes weeks for the vaccine to protect you after getting shot with it. It has to go to work replicating itself throughout your system and then it becomes your live-in pal for life.

@Doug: The death count is at least 4,000 people and likely higher (a lot was not reported) so it's been going on quite a while. But.... Asia-born Asians have different cultural hygiene than Westerners (spitting indoors, not covering their mouth when they sneeze/cough, etc.) and they also tend to enjoy gambling which means the slot parlors and poker rooms are swimming with Swine Flu right now, even the finest resorts are not really responding to this threat and guess where all those pleasant personalities you're talking about tend to hang out? I'm sure most are smokers, who probably are less likely to contract Swine Flu (as opposed to cancer) but still..

If that 25 year old, with no underlying medical conditions, had been 26 years old, and denied the vaccination, all of the Clark County Health District, the Nevada Health Division and the Federal Center for Disease Control would have looked like jackasses.

I wish someone would keep track of the number of people in age groups denied the vaccination, without underlying medical conditions, who die.

When the vaccination clinic was at Centennial Hills High School I was disgusted in watching Clark County Health District employees in brown shirts or vests turning people away who wanted the shots. I'm talking about two people dragging oxygen containers with them, and a very disabled man in a wheel chair.

I would have made a fuss, except for the fact that there was a very large CCSD Police presence inside and outside the hospital, and did not want to get arrested.

Standing there in the gym, packed in with 1000 people or so, I was flashing back to the Transit Camps where the Nazis rounded up Jews and other undesirables were prepared to be sent to their deaths.

Just like many who have told their stories to the Shoah project, the people in the gym were very compliant, obviously fearing not being given the shot.

So bully for the Clark County Health District, the Nevada Health Division, and the Federal Center for Disease Control. This girl with no pre-existing medical conditions who died this week was only 25, so you're off the hook. Fascist pigs.

Yet, even though I have a cancer diagnosis and my doctor told me TO GET the shot, I do not qualify under guidelines -- I am not pregnant. We need a new administration who is more responsive to real-world needs. I'll do what it takes to vote BO and Harry out of office and so should you.

Doug wrote on November 25, 2009 02:44 PM: I'm just glad to see that the nonsense regarding the dangerousness of the vaccine is finally beginning to subside now that people are actually dying from H1N1. Four months ago there were hundreds, if not thousands, of posts detailing all kinds of conspiracy theories about H1N1 and people saying they would never take it. Now people are complaining they can't get it. Sigh, what a difference a day makes.

Doug wrote on November 25, 2009 01:56 PM: Isn't it about time to release the vaccine and stop saving it for next years flu season maybe the hoarded vaccine isn't meant to save lives after all. So someone could perhaps explain why the health district Czars are so misguided that they look like the old Scrooge Mc Duck in his vault sitting on his coin hoard. People dying for lack of the preventive is not an act for a responsible society. Oh yes I have not had the vaccine and am not seeking it.
