One motorcyclist killed, another critically injured in accident

Police said a 22-year-old motorcyclist died Tuesday night when he and another motorcycle rider traveling at a high rate of speed struck a car turning in front of them on Sahara Avenue at Edmond Street.

The Clark County coroner’s office identified the man as Daniel Gonzalez, of Las Vegas. He died of multiple blunt force injuries in what was ruled an accident.

A 2004 Mercedes Benz C230K traveling east on Sahara was struck by both motorcycles as it started to make a left turn on Edmond, police said.

Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other motorcycle rider was taken to University Medical Center with critical injuries. He was not identified.

Huh??????? Ummm ok, I guess it's ok to risk my life and that of everyone around me as long as I'M having fun. Golly, next time I get loaded I'll drive home. It's worth it you see, because I had fun. Don't worry about the fact that I'm risking life since, having fun makes it worth it. Or, why go out to shooting ranges for target practice? It's more fun to set up targets in my own yard. My neighbors will just have to deal with the stray bullets blasting through their windows. After all, I'M having fun.
Your logic makes no sense what so ever. And, quite frankly, I think MOST drivers would prefer motorcycle drivers follow the rules of the road.
I'm sorry for the loss of your friend. I wish he would not have risked his life for a little fun. His actions will cause his family and friends great pain for a long time to come.

I used to ride and I understand the joy of biking, but bikers flying at over 100 mph is not safe or sane for anyone.
I wish the police would concentrate more on reckless motorcycle fanatics.

I would say some mean things and curse you for talking like that about a dear friend but that won't help at all or show respect to DJ. Just because someone makes a mistake like this, doesn't mean they should pay with their life. And unless you have lived behind a computer screen your whole life, then you too know what its like to risk life for adrenaline or "fun". whether it be speeding or jumping out of a plane. Losing a life just so you can be content in your life with no motorcycles whizzing by you? That truly is sad you think like that and thank God that you don't speak for the rest of the humane world. God bless. and I hope next time you follow the general kindergarten rule of thumb: "if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all"

unfortunately, i personally know that the other rider won't learn from his mistake. it sucks that things had to happen so tragically, but pp was right when they said boys will be boys. and they will never learn either. i really hope this event will open the eyes of the friends of the 2 involved that they need to quit behaving so recklessly. humans are not immortal. as was proved in this incident. i love the people involved, and i really love their friends, but you really have to start paying attention to your lives before they end too quickly. unfortunately i know that this will not end here.. as is apparent from the fatal car accident that happened a couple years back in which their friends killed a family because they were behaving stupidly.
life is precious! treat it as so. it makes me so sad to see that this is the road my friends are traveling.

Vegas is dangerous enough, do you have to add to that by driving like idiots??!! I know, it is too simple, isn't it. . .

Eddie Gin wrote on November 04, 2009 06:54 PM: There has to be accidents like this, if not it wouldn't even be fashionable to ride a motorcycle.
