Special security measures not being taken in Nevada in response to Fort Hood shootings

Nevada military outposts took no extraordinary precautions as a result of the massacre at Fort Hood, Texas. The Nevada National Guard did not take any special security measures at its facilities in Nevada, said Sgt. Erick Studenicka, a public information officer.

Studenicka said Nevada guard facilities were taking “alpha” security precautions, which is a step above normal but not that unusual. It means they do random, anti-terrorist searches at gates.

“It’s not because of Texas,” he added shortly after the shooting. “We don’t know what caused the violence there.” Studenicka said that no guard members from Nevada are based at Fort Hood.

  • At Nellis Air Foce Base, Capt. Amy Oliver with the public affairs office said operations there remained normal. “It’s an isolated incident as far as we know right now,” she said.

Nothing had changed by late afternoon: “We’re watching the news just like you are.”

Staff Sgt. Alice Moore at Creech Air Force Base in Indian Springs said, “We haven’t changed our security posture, but, as always, we maintain a heightened state of awareness.”

The Islamic Society of Nevada sent out a statement condemning the killings.

The statement noted that Dr. Aslam Abdullah, director of the group, wrote in his blog that the actions of Major Malik Nadal Hasan are horrible “and every U.S. citizen must condemn his action.”

“There is no justification for what he did. However, let us be cautious in relating this event to a faith or a community as it would impact not only our analysis and interests but would also damage community relations in our country,” he wrote. “Nadal was (a) lunatic and he should be described and portrayed as such. It does not matter what his faith is or what his nationality is. What matters is that he acted criminally and abused the trust placed in him. We must identify him as a criminal and no more or no less than that.”

That being said, Hasan should get the death penalty for this, right after we fix his pathetic life with the best medical care tax money can buy.

Take it from me, I know. I hang with these people, and we are DANGEROUS.

If there is a pocket of violence, this is what we have to pay for in a free America. My Goodness, what are a few deaths when we can provide health care, welfare, housing credits, no income tax, food stamps, extended unemplyment benetits, etc., to our friends from the third world. Most Vegans kill each other otherwise. The RJ is full of these senseless killings.

During the civil rights era, Blacks were integrated into the military mainstream. This was not a catastrophe, although it did blast open the armored door with affirmative action (ie General Powell). [I strongly OPPOSE the old military structure of Jim Crow units. OK?] By the time Clinton came around, we had women in the military, "don't ask don't tell", etc. Somewhere along the line women were even allowed to serve close to the front. Remember that dingbat soldierette who was captured?

The point is, somewhere along the line it became politically impossible for the military to bounce a Muslim from a sensitive position.

I'm not against further caution, more detailed background checks, and even what many would consider racial profiling but even in lieu of todays events it's wrong to simply condemn and deport an entire group based on the extreme actions some radicals.

I bet you're too dumb to even recognize the hypocrisy contained in those two sentences.

"Genius, go to salon.com and note how their commentators (your buddies) are blaming Bush/Cheney for this."
Why don't you bring us some examples so I can ridicule them as well. Meanwhile, I only need to point down to previous comments to show examples of knee jerk reactionary right wing idiots (your buddies).
