A 17-year-old male was pronounced dead at the scene of a single-vehicle accident Tuesday night on Centennial Center Boulevard near Ann Road.
The Clark County coroner’s office identified the victim as Pierino Yohanes Halley, of Las Vegas.
Halley was the passenger in a 2005 Nissan Altima traveling south about 8 p.m. on Centennial Center Boulevard.
According to Las Vegas police, the driver of the car, also 17, changed lanes at a high rate of speed and lost control before hitting a water irrigation box, a light pole and two palm trees.
Halley was pronounced dead at the scene from multiple blunt force injuries in what police said was an accident.
The driver was taken to University Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

How about those stupid females who drive while putting on their mascara and makeup? And I'm not talking about doing this at a stoplight! At first, I said hahah these kids got what they deserved, but then again, I was once a wild teenager too. The difference, there's a new law since my high school days that forbids teenagers from driving around with other teenagers. Sad, but then again, luckily, they didn't hurt a pedestrian or another innocent person(s) in another vehicle. And this is unrelated, but why is it that drunk drivers kill others but they themselves, usually walk away from it? Not fair, is it?
This is a shame, a little common sense and respect for the laws and your neighbor, this would not have happened. Glad nobody was walking along that stretch of road for an evening stroll. Everybody needs to slow down in this town and have a little more patience. The speed limit of 35mph was not put there for nothing.
I feel real bad for the family, when is this non-sense of speeding going to stop.
It's time parents start getting serious and teach their children just how important life is and that of others and respect for the road.
