Scott Allison, a spokesman for the fire department, said the cause of the fire was still being investigated. He said Las Vegas police were assisting with the investigation.

She was a very smart, attractive woman. Her death was not her fault. She had everything going for her, her whole life ahead of her.

Someone who knows stuff wrote on December 15, 2009 10:14 PM: Karen was not murdered. She died while destroying what a wonderful man spent his life working for. She set the beds on fire and then the kitchen. She was drinking and probably got disoriented. The owner was not anywhere near the house as reporters stated, and this has been proven. Apparently she had psychiatric problems that many did not know about, and it is sad that she died, but it was her own fault. And for the record, she was not hired by the doctor...she was dating him. I guess she wasn't very open and honest with her friends. Agian, it is a shame she died. However, it is a shame that the person lost his home and everything inside of his home. A lot of special and priceless stuff...all for no reason.

anonymous wrote on November 25, 2009 08:19 PM: There are a lot of questions about what happened here, the homeowner has some explaining to do.

On Wednesday, Clark County Fire Department spokesman Scott Allison Firefighters identified the woman as Karen Michelle Heely, 28. A cause of death has not yet been released.

Allison said Tuesday there are a lot of unanswered questions about how the woman died and how the fire started late Sunday. Flames gutted the million-dollar home on Panorama Crest Avenue in the Red Rock Country Club.

Las Vegas police homicide investigators are involved.

Allison said it appeared Heely was a visitor at the house. He said the homeowner was sitting in a car up the street with another person when firefighters arrived a little after 9 p.m.
