A 65-year-old driver died after his Ford F-150 pickup overturned Wednesday afternoon on the Las Vegas Beltway near Durango Drive, the Nevada Highway Patrol said Thursday.

The Clark County coroner's office identified the deceased man as Peter Iakona of Las Vegas. NHP said alcohol might have been a factor, but the crash is still under investigation.

The man was driving west on the beltway when, for unknown reasons, he swerved to the right. The right rear of the pickup clipped the left front of a Chevrolet Blazer.

The collision sent both vehicles onto the dirt shoulder where the pickup overturned. The pickup driver was ejected, NHP said.

Iakona was transported to University Medical Center where he died.

Sixty five years old. Could have been a medical event, could have been booze or it could have just been the typical stupidity and inattention of most drivers on the road today. The no seat belt is a huge indicator.
