ELKO -- An Elko deputy accused of making up stories about a rural city recreation director has been reassigned.
The Elko Daily Free Press reports that deputy Brad Hester is no longer working in rural Jackpot after a city recreation director filed a temporary protective order against him.
Elko County Sheriff Jim Pitts would not say where Hester had been assigned.
Pitts says Hester is not on leave because the allegations don't prohibit him from serving as a law officer.
Hester was served on Nov. 15 with a protective order approved by Justice of the Peace Al Kacin.
In the order, Jackpot recreation center director Richard Pike claimed Hester told school officials that Pike was a marijuana user.
Pike also claimed Hester told people that Pike was selling drugs to schoolchildren.

Dear Robert.Weston i was in the courtroom and listened to the deputy lie on the stand.
if you have any questions go read the court minutes.
Elko deputy accused of character assassination? I thought maybe he had killed Mickey Mouse.
Agreed, MadAmerican................This is a perfect example of why so many bad cops are still on the streets, when they should be on the bread line or in prison..
Reassigned??? How about FIRING the vindictive liar?
Another deputy that survived the tough pre- employment screening process. Then he gets caught harassing a fellow citizen to the point of having a restraining order issued against him. Obvious conduct unbecoming a law enforcement officer and cause for dismissal in practically any state in this country, except of course the great state of Nevada. More law enforcement misconduct protected by the good ol' boys like Sheriff Pitts. At least Judge Kacin had the stones to stand up to the Sheriff's Dept.
So someone makes a "claim" and the cop is transferred? What about due process? What about an investigation? Did he do it on duty? Did he actually do it or maybe it was all made up to get him transferred? What say you, Sheriff? Justice of the Peace in Nevada could be a used car salesman or even a bum with a large family. I guess we will have to wait for Part 2 of this saga.
