ELKO -- An Elko woman was found guilty of child negligence in the fourth trial held after she was charged in the 2005 starvation death of her infant daughter.

The Elko Daily Free Press reported that a sentencing date has not been set yet for 26-year-old Salvana Fernandez.

She and Florencio Carlos Uribe were arrested in February 2005 after their daughter, Monica Uribe, died at the age of 7 months.

Fernandez was convicted in 2006 of child abuse or neglect causing substantial bodily harm in the death.

But the Nevada Supreme Court granted Fernandez a new trial, saying jurors were given improper instructions.

Her second and third trials ended with jurors unable to reach a verdict.

Uribe was found guilty of child abuse in 2006 and sentenced to 20 years in prison.

My mind can't even grasp the concept of starving a BABY to death!!! What did this baby do to deserve this? I'm sure she didn't starve this angel while she was pregnant because she would have been starving herself! But this "woman" decides to carry this baby to term, give birth to only kill her?! This woman should be starved to death herself! An eye for an eye! RIP baby girl!

Dear Ignorants, you cant become a citizen by having a baby here. And, many Americans have spanish surnames.

    God bless this child.

This is exactly why there should be court-ordered sterilizations ! Why, oh why do these people breed ? Innocent children, are truly innocent. The worst possible punishment for these folks....how truly horrible for those babies. It hurts my heart to think of it.
