Ex-courthouse janitor pleads guilty
Tools
A janitor who until recently worked at the Lloyd George U.S. Courthouse was a defendant in his former workplace Wednesday, when he pleaded guilty to a charge of simple assault.
Jardeil Melendez-Martinez, 44, faces a maximum sentence of six months in jail on the misdemeanor, but things could be worse. He was originally charged with abusive sexual contact.
Martinez on Wednesday told U.S. District Judge Kent Dawson he was guilty of grabbing a female co-worker in a jury restroom and not letting her leave.
Martinez has been subjected to background checks in order to gain employment with the federal government. He works at Nellis Air Force Base.
