Family History Jamboree scheduled

The Sandstone Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will host a Family History Jamboree on Sept. 26 at the LDS Family Center, 221 S. Lorenzi St.
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., and the event kicks off at 9 a.m. with a speech by Trina Boice, an author who has written seven books, including one she co-wrote with her twin sister, Tracey Long, titled "Climbing Family Trees, Whispers in the Leaves." After Boice speaks, there will be five sessions, and a chance to choose from 34 different presentations.
A complimentary lunch will be provided. The sessions end at 3:10 p.m. with cookies and a drawing for prizes. There also will be displays in the main hall.
Among the presenters are Jim Green and Ron Tanner, project managers in the family history department in Salt Lake City for the LDS church, who will speak on the church's new family search program.
Ron Bremer, a genealogist, will offer tips to help people get through research problems. A form is available at www.fhcopenhouse.org for those who would like to send specific questions to Bremer.
Local genealogist Lee Nishimoto will teach classes on Swiss and German research.
Other classes include scanning made easy, preserving your heirloom, photo restoration, census records and Internet research.
