A 21-year-old man was arrested on multiple counts of child abuse after his 3-month-old son was rushed to a hospital in critical condition Monday.
Las Vegas police said Andrew Mendoza's son suffered multiple injuries consistent with blunt-force trauma to the abdomen. The baby also had bite marks. He was in critical condition Tuesday evening.
At 7 p.m. Monday, police were called to the 3900 block of South Decatur Boulevard, near Flamingo Road, because the child was unresponsive.
Mendoza was booked into the Clark County Detention Center Tuesday on eight counts of child abuse, one count of child abuse with substantial bodily harm, one count of child neglect and one count of child endangerment.

Wow Ashley & friends, thanks for the insight.
We hear about these kinds of incidents all the time but I think most reasonable people don't blame the mother. Usually the mother is trying to get something done in her life while some deadbeat boyfriend is left behind to watch the child. Many mothers can't afford to put a child in daycare or hire a day long babysitter so they leave the child in the care of someone they think they can trust. Most of the time it works but sometimes it doesn't. A lot of men, especially young men, don't understand why a child cries. Unless the child is sick, the usual reasons a child cries is because they are either hungry (or gassy after eating), have a dirty diaper, or are sleepy. Any of those things are pretty easily solved with an little TLC and attention to the child. Many young men are ill equipped to handle those kinds of chores because they think those things (such as changing diapers and using care to prevent diaper rash) are beneath them. If a baby continues to cry, some young men respond by getting angry instead of responding with love for that child. It's more puzzling here because Ashley said the guy was normally a pretty good responder while in her presence. Maybe it was just a show or maybe he just reached his limit. Regardless, this is a tragic event that happens way too much in our society.
God bless the family and the child. I hope the child recovers, but the boyfriend deserves jail.
I really feel for you Ashley. I really DON'T feel for your "husband" or your child's "father". I hope he rots in jail then HELL!
