Figures indicate many registered Republicans voted for Reid

LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL CAPITAL BUREAU
CARSON CITY -- Preliminary figures show just 2,000 more Democrats than Republicans voted in Nevada's general election, the secretary of state's office said Monday.
Because there were 60,000 more registered Democrats than Republicans at the time of the election, the figures are a clear indication that many Republicans cast votes for Democrat U.S. Sen. Harry Reid rather than for his Republican opponent, Sharron Angle, a secretary of state spokeswoman said.
Reid, the Senate majority leader, defeated Angle by 41,424 votes in the election, although final polls conducted by the Review-Journal and others had projected a narrow Angle victory.
He even defeated Angle in Washoe County, where there are more registered Republicans than Democrats.
In fact, 8,190 more Republicans than Democrats voted in Washoe County, and Reid still received 7,207 more votes there than Angle, said Pam Dupre of the secretary of state's office.
In Clark County, Reid defeated Angle by 60,101 votes, although the figures released Monday show only 38,606 more registered Democrats than Republicans cast votes there.
Conversely, the vote figures also mean that Republican Brian Sandoval received many votes from registered Democrats in winning the governor's race over Reid's son, Democrat Rory Reid. Sandoval defeated Rory Reid by 84,179 votes.
State Senate Republicans ousted longtime Republican leader Bill Raggio, R-Reno, as their caucus leader largely because he had endorsed Reid over Angle in the U.S. Senate race. Raggio had led Republicans in the Senate since 1981.
Dupre said the official turnout figures by party registration for all counties, including heavily Republican rural Nevada, will not be released before today .
But she released turnout figures for the two largest counties.
In Clark County, 211,972 registered Democrats, 173,366 Republicans and 60,756 nonpartisans voted in the election.
In Washoe County, 54,342 Democrats, 62,532 Republicans and 17,175 nonpartisan voters cast ballots.

Elephant in the room: you can't be anti-LDS and win in Nevada -not really a newsflash folks.
I love this.
Sharron lost because her "ideas" are not popular. Its a bitter pill to swallow, and that is why her supporters keep spitting up all over these boards blaming something/someone else. You know the old saying about those forgetting history being doomed to repeat it? Lets hope so; go Sharron 2012! And bring Sarah with you!
Sharron Angle lost because she let the DC "Pro's" manipulate her campaign. Way at the top it doesent matter if there is a 'R' or a "D" behind the name. Same people have been running the country for years...McConnell,Reid,
Layhe,Hatch, many more "R's" and "D's"been up there for 25 30 years. They did not want Sharron Angle because they could not control her! figure it out people! Same with Miller in Alaska, Buck in col., Dino Rossi in Wash. to many real conservatives would have been unmanageable for the elite who run the country! Check it out These that accepted "help" from NRSC all LOST!!
The biggest loser in this last election was the democrats. Ever hear the old saying,"you might have won the battle but, you still lost the house of representitives"?
Figures will lie, and liars will figure. Sound advice from my Dad. To view the election results from a realistic point of view start with the premise that Harry Reid is absolute corruption. Rigged elections in Clark County are a factual act. Elections here have been corrupted for over 50 years. Filthy Harry's reelection is just another piece of evidence. If we had a journalistic core deserving of the freedoms provided it under our "Bill of Rights" these corrupt activities would have been exposed long ago, or more importantly, brought to a halt. Research what entity was 'in charge' of the voting machines this past election. Explain why such emphasis has been placed on early voting. Does anyone find it curious that for early voting you can do it any day, any location, for a two or three week period. Yet legitimate voting only occurs on one day w3ith each voter being told precisely where to vote. C'mon people it is our country they are racketeering, get your heads out of your Televisions and I-Pads and think.
Conservatives lost this election. Time to move forward and work on the next one. The 2010 election cycle was one of the best ever for Republicans nationwide. That will have to do for now. 2012 is coming. Let the progressives glory in the past. Make the next one count Nevada conservatives. It's the smart moves and its all you can do anyway. If you need motivation, well--there are those below providing it. And every time Reid makes a move it should motivate you. But don't wast too much time seeking a justification. What happened happened. Both here, and nationwide. Nevada has huge problems. And Reid will make them worse. So point that out to voters. Get active.
I don't understand the whines from some people here about this article; its just facts folks. Odd that people get so worked up when the facts just aren't what they want to hear. I mean, so the article says what we all ready knew, republicans voted for Sen. Reid as well. Now, we didn't know the extent of the voting pattern, at least I didn't, but clearly the fact that Washoe went Reid tells me a lot. Find something else to get excited over; if you don't like that this newspaper is writing articles that are fact based, find some other propaganda rag. Hope for change as some columnist says.
LOLOLOLOLOL This article makes me happier than a hug from Jesus Christ himself! And Brody is right. This horse is dead, decayed and stinks worse than Angle's campaign strategy.
Amen: It won't be long before new management arrives and makes the RJ a LA Times look alike. Laura Myers, Ben Spillman, Ed Vogel, and the ditzy Road Warrior will be right at home, spewing the demorat philosophy and attempting to wreck Nevaduh. Let's see how long subscribers like me continue to pay for their propoganda! God Bless Nevaduh!
