Woman dead after motorcycle crash in southwest valley

A woman who was critically injured Wednesday afternoon in southwest valley motorcycle crash died Wednesday night, officials said.

Gisel Richard, 58, of Bagneaux, France, was riding her 2016 Indian Scout motorcycle about 3:12 p.m. when she began to wobble near Torrey Pines Drive and Sahara Avenue, police said.

As she veered to the right, Richard struck a curb. The motorcycle then jumped onto the sidewalk, where she struck a sign and was ejected before sliding to a stop.

Her bike continued forward, striking a nearby parked GMC pickup before ricocheting back onto the roadway, police said.

Richard was taken to University Medical Center, where she later died.
