Maintenance man killed at apartment complex identified

A maintenance man who was shot and killed while on the job last week at an east valley apartment complex was identified Wednesday by the Clark County coroner's office as 47-year-old Adrian Abrego-Gonzalez of Las Vegas.
The coroner's office said Abrego-Gonzalez died from a gunshot wound in his abdomen.
Las Vegas police said Abrego-Gonzalez was one of two maintenance men fixing a window around noon at the Village at Karen Apartments on Sahara Avenue, between Lamb and Nellis boulevards. The workers encountered a group of five men who were in the middle of what appeared to be a burglary.
Police said the maintenance workers had a "verbal altercation" with the five men. One of the five confronted the complex employees with a pistol and shot the men.
Abrego-Gonzalez died at the scene.
The second maintenance worker, who was not identified, was taken to a hospital and was expected to recover from his injuries.
Homicide Sgt. Russ Shoemaker said Wednesday that police have not made an arrest in the slaying.
Shoemaker described the shooting suspect as a black male in his late teens or early 20s. The suspect was between 6 feet and 6 feet 3 inches tall. He weighed between 160 and 180 pounds.
He was seen wearing a dark blue hat while fleeing north toward a wash near East Sahara.
