Police officers in Taser death identified

LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL
The two Las Vegas police officers who used a Taser against a man Saturday with fatal results were 35-year-old Mark Hatten and 24-year-old Timothy English.
Hatten has been with the department since January 2007, English since June 2008, police said Tuesday.
After being jolted with the Taser, 44-year-old Anthony Jones appeared to suffer medical distress and was pronounced dead at Valley Hospital Medical Center.
The incident began with a routine traffic stop less than a mile from Jones' home and ended in a struggle with officers. Police said Jones fled and then aggressively resisted the officers. He was shot with a Taser "several times," according to Sgt. John Sheahan.
Hatten and English have been placed on routine paid administrative leave. Details of the fatality are expected to be disclosed during a coroner's inquest.

Its amaizing that all the comments that are for this man and his family only stay posted for a quick moment!!! Wow metro wut else do you control???? Some1 please re-evaluate these cops and drug test them to lol there all on something!!!!!!!!!
Jon H., we don't know what motivated this ex-con, violent sex offender to run, and the police are going not going to release much other info to the press until the investigation is over and the inquest begins. So any "reasons" for him running are nothing but speculation. When a person has a history of drug sales, violence and parole/probation violations, we might make a few educated guesses, but in reality, wait to get the rest of the facts if you want to make an impartial and informed decision.
DevilDog...To say that Mark Hatten once conspired to kill Anna Nicole Smith's step son is an example of sloppy paperwork. To say I saw Mark Hatten sell drugs to school children in order to get a warrant to search his home is an example of perjury. To diminish a lie under oath to the level of sloppy paperwork is tantamount to condoning it. Every officer who chooses to wear the same colors as the ones who are lying and cheating the public every day are choosing to associate themselves with that behavior.
Cops need reasonable suspicion Ramaj, not probable cause. To put it to you in layman terms Ramaj, a cop drives by a store with a freshly smashed window. Cop sees a person standing 10 feet away holding a brick in his hand. Is it against the law to carry a brick?? No. But at that point, the cop has reasonable suspicion to stop/detain the person holding the brick to determine if they were responsible. If the person flees from the cops, well, you be the judge.....
What motive other than fear exists? Well we do know that the police have not reported any drugs on this mans person. So I ask everyone, why would a prison smart ex-con be afraid of the police? And, can we expect the police to give us a strait answer as to why he did run?
DeepThoughts let’s think about this. First we do have a father who paints a picture of a son who has straitened out his life. Second we have a son who does know the ropes when it comes to interacting with prison guards and the police . . . we are not talking about a teenage gang banger. So, I am suggesting that the fight or flight stimulus must have come from somewhere. If . . . as you suggested he had just raped a woman, and thought he was going to get caught . . . then yes that would explain this mans actions. But, if no such event occurred then how do we explain why this man exhibited such a strong flight then fight reaction. Recall, this guy from prison knows what will happen, how do we explain away this mans actions? What motive other than fear exists?
Villager, "The penalty for resisting arrest should never be DEATH."
You are correct, however, the resistor made the decision to resist arrest, and officers made a decision to attempt less than lethal force.
The "penalty" that officers strive for in all situations, is to 1- stop the threat, and 2- take the offender into custody using the minimal amount of force necessary.
The offender, who could have surrendered anytime to avoid ANY need for force, wanted to run and fight, thus forcing the officers to use force.
The taser applications were designed to be less than deadly, but we will have to wait and see what the coroner has to say about cause of death. (I'm guessing bad heart due to years of drug use or another underlying medical issue)
Oh John H. conspiracy theories are great! What if.....this guy just raped a girl and was fleeing police to allude them????? What if...what if...let's put on our tin foil hats and really take you serious!
Something is wrong in America when these taser-related killings are happening on a weekly basis, http://tinyurl.com/TaserDeaths
The penalty for resisting arrest should never be DEATH.
This question needs to be asked. Why did this man feel the need to flight then fight the police officer due to a simple traffic stop? Is it possible that the officer said something that caused this man to fear for his life, and as a consequence he attempted to escape? Let’s face it, when the officer ran the plates and or ID he knew this mans record. What if this officer became aggressive and abusive toward this man, where a simple traffic stop for a tail light turned into another police officer involved homicide? We need to ask the question who is truly the cause to these types of events?
