A 51-year-old Nevada man was arrested last week in the death of an Oregon man whose remains were found in 1996, Las Vegas police said Wednesday.
Police said they were assisted by Oregon authorities and a fugitive task force when they arrested Thomas Colbert on Friday in Indian Springs in connection with the Oregon homicide.
Colbert was in the Clark County Detention Center on Wednesday, awaiting extradition to Oregon.
Police said that in October 1992, 36-year-old Danny Sweet disappeared from his home in Mitchell, Ore.
In January 1996, Sweet's skeletal remains were found in a remote area near Mount Vernon in Grant County, Ore.
On Feb. 7, Colbert was one of two men indicted on murder charges in Sweet's death.
