Nevada senator Lee meets with Reid, Democratic leaders in Washington

LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL
State Sen. John Lee headed to Washington on Wednesday to talk about his congressional candidacy with U.S. Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., and other Democratic Party leaders.
While there, the North Las Vegas senator will try to burnish his conservative credentials by picking up an award from the National Rifle Association and by meeting with "Blue Dog" Democrats, the shrinking class of lawmakers who don't always vote along party lines.
Lee's trip comes as he positions himself to run in what probably will be the most competitive congressional district in Southern Nevada once the outlines are decided by a special court panel.
If Lee gets past a Democratic primary, he could face Rep. Joe Heck, R-Nev., who represents the 3rd Congressional District, where Democrats have a slight edge in party registration.
Lee announced he was running for the House in August, joining three other Southern Nevada Democrats already campaigning with more expected to jump into the contests.
"It's always a pleasure to meet with my good friend, Sen. Reid, and other members of Congress to discuss how we can overcome the challenges facing our state," Lee said in a statement.
"I look forward to joining them in Congress, confident that a strong congressional delegation from Nevada can help Nevada's families get back to work."
Besides Reid, Lee said he will meet with Rep. Shelley Berkley, D-Nev., members of the Blue Dog Coalition, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and labor organizations.
Reid has been encouraging all the Democrats who have met or talked with him about congressional runs, including former Rep. Dina Titus and state Sen. Ruben Kihuen, D-Las Vegas.
Outgoing Assembly Speaker John Oceguera, D-Las Vegas, also has announced he is running for Congress, but he hasn't scheduled a trip to Washington to make the rounds.
State Senate Majority Leader Steven Horsford, D-Las Vegas, hasn't yet officially announced a bid for the House but is expected to do so and receive backing from the party, Reid and President Barack Obama.
Horsford was in Washington last week to hear Obama deliver his jobs address to Congress.
Lee said the National Rifle Association's Institute for Legislative Action is scheduled to give him an award on Friday. It recognizes Lee for backing creation of the Clark County Shooting Park in North Las Vegas, something Reid was heavily involved in too.
In the Legislature, Lee is well-known for promoting guns rights legislation, a popular bipartisan issue in Nevada.

This RJ story confirms Senator Lee being a well known non-shooter himself purely used leading the effort to build this shooting range for his political gain to win favor from both Harry Reid and the NRA to boost his chances for higher political office. Now that theory is fully substantiated with this news.
What about giving Senator Lee a wasteful spending award for his actions thus far not only costing the people of Nevada $65 million to build this park but also costing the Clark County Tax payers thus far $ 3 million dollars that the County has taken from its limited funds to continue to subsidize this overbuilt “money pit” that was built purely special interests and competes with local private ranges. Notice in the story that he is also meeting with labor unions on this trip. Senator Lee is a special interest pawn and the last guy we need in Washington.
As a rule, the DEMs are just horrible. Lee is the best of the worst.
He won't stand a chance in a DEM primary, though. The left wing socialist candidates combined always get 90% of the votes. The communists get the other 10%.
Hey, Lee! Give HECK a primary.
NV State Senator Lee, ask Senator Harry Reid, to explain his economic theory of how moving the only operational Lithium Hydroxide plant in the U.S.A. at Silver Peak, Nevada out of NV to North Carolina with money provided by DOE for DOE/EA-1715 with Reids help. . . squares his radio ads for 2010 re-election "Jobs for Silver Peak, NV" ?
And why does North Carolina need a Lithium Hydroxide plant when they have zero Lithium Carbonate production? Did Reids radio re-election ads mis-represent truth and mis-lead Nevada voters about the true facts for Reids political gain at the expense of Nevada people and jobs at Silver Peak, Nevada?
GLASS-STEAGALL, where does he stand on that?
That is all that matters!!
H.R. 1489, the Return to Prudent Banking Act of 2011, is now before the House of Representatives, which aims "to ... revive the separation between commercial banking and the securities business, in the manner provided in the Banking Act of 1933, the so-called 'Glass-Steagall Act.'"
We, the undersigned, therefore demand that Congress immediately act to pass H.R. 1489, and identical legislation in the Senate, as the indispensable first measure to save the nation.
Sorry folks America is done with the democratic socialist agendas. If you are compelled to run I suppose we can use the infusion of cash to our economy but as seen in the recent elections you can't win as a socialist.
He aught to run as a centrist Republican. DINOs need not apply.
@mrs ed --- Do you read your posts before you hit enter ??? You get more and more ridiculous by the day. But, you do get an "A" for the entertainment and stupidity factor.
Do you think Lee going to Washington to lick his Reid?
Nice press release . . . er . . . "news article".
Blue cards violate the 2nd Amendment, National legislation should be implemented to ban the unconstitutional Blue Cards. Heck has been weak on the 2nd Amendment, concentrating on giving doctors special privileges.
