In another sign of tough economic times, North Las Vegas has cut in half the number of Planning Commission meetings each month.
The City Council on Wednesday approved decreasing the number of monthly commission meetings from two to one.
"The number of applications (for development) are down," said Frank Fiori, the city's planning director. "There's not as much business."
The commission will no longer meet the fourth Wednesday of each month. It will continue holding a meeting the second Wednesday of each month.
The city, which is dealing with plummeting revenues, in April approved cutting 204 jobs to save money, including 8 of 21 employees in the city's planning and zoning department.
Clark County, Henderson and Las Vegas also have cut in half the number of planning commission meetings they hold each month.
