One man died, and another man was seriously wounded, in a double shooting Wednesday night, North Las Vegas police said.

Sgt. Tim Bedwell said investigators were searching for at least one suspect in the incident.

"We believe we have an outstanding shooter," he said.

Police did not release a description of the suspect or suspects. The identities of the men who were shot also were not released.

Bedwell said the shootings occurred about 5:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of Splinter Rock Way.

Bedwell said two victims, ages 18 and 20, were found in the garage of a home. He did not know which man had died.

One of the men was taken to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The other was initially listed in critical condition.

Bedwell said at 8:30 p.m. that the man was expected to survive.

Police have not yet determined a motive for the shootings. The Clark County coroner's office will release the identity of the slain man.

Anyone with information pertaining to the shootings can anonymously call Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.

    Just another Northtown shooting.

It's difficult to get very far away from the violence and gunplay in Sin City. My wife and I live near Desert Inn & Hualapai. About three years ago, just before Christmas I was at home during the day when a stray .22LR round came through one of our back windows. A friend who lives in the area of Fort Apache and Sahara awoke one morning to discover a .45 ACP slug imbedded in a kitchen cabinet. I attributed my experience to the phenomenon of "celebratory gunfire," since it was close to Christmas and the whiskey was doubtless flowing.

Sorry, I meant Elementary school. I had 4 kids go there, then to Cram...and now Legacy. I know the area well. It's not full of mormons. I know that street well, also. I've lived in Eldorado for 16 years.
Bad things just seem to happen alot in this area lately. I say "renters" because these houses use to sell for upwards $300,000. Then they all got foreclosed on, they now sell for around $80K with a rent base of $700. You can argue all you want about where I'm going with this, I'm right and that's all that really matters.

I used to live in that part of Eldorado and it has gone down. When you have Section 8 housing, the occupiers really don't care about quality of life and maintaining the neighborhood. This is a fact of life.

This article initially incorrectly state that the shooting was near Carey and Civic Center. As the commenters below pointed out, the shooting was actually near Tropical and Camino Eldorado. The author of the article obviously fixed it by taking out "Carey and Civic Center," but he didn't put in Tropical and Camino Eldorado. Why is that?

    What great non-information.

Lee Antonello is an elementary school, Tina B. Lived in Eldorado since it was built and have always felt safe. Sometimes bad stuff happens. Even in nice neighborhoods. Renters or no renters.

Oscar.Jones making another stupid comment. Is ANYONE surprised?

I wouldn't say they were an "outstanding shooter" but 50% isn't bad if it was attempting to take both out.

Oxcar get a life. NLV has far fewer shootings than Las Vegas. Eldorado is Mormanville and everybody knows what scumbags they are. Just ask three of the five City Council members.
