My condolences go out to this man's family. That being said, if he was wearing his seat belt he wouldn't have been ejected in the first place. From the description of the accident it sounds like the driver possibly fell asleep at the wheel. I was caught in this traffic for 2 1/2 hours before I was forced to drive in the emergency lane to get out of traffic to the next exit to get gas. The reason some people were driving so fast after was to get to a gas station or deal with overheating cars. Believe me I wasn't the only one celebrating when I made it to a gas pump!
Wow, "this stretch of highway has claimed more lives......" The highway hasn't claimed any lives whatsoever. No lives at all. None. The only thing that has likely claimed any lives is bad driving.
This man was my brother. We are up here working to support our families back home. This stretch of freeway has claimed more lives than any other I have ever seen in my life. We drove back and forth from Vegas to Mt. pass 6 days a week. I couldnt tell you how many times we would be going 80 plus mph just to keep up with the flow, many times the nhp would be out there with the radar guns and not pulling people over. The speed limit is 70. Why be out there if your not gonna do your job! Please keep this man in your hearts. He was a good man. He was a father, son, uncle, husband, brother, he will be missed greatly. So people please slow down and think if this was you or your loved ones. I know I will.
I was coming back for state line and came upon the accident, I was in shock to say the least when we saw the mans body covered in the middle of the freeway!! We had to pull off at the first exit just a little further north on I-15. However , more shocking than that was how the other driver's reacted!! As soon as they passed this horrific scene they continued toward Las Vegas at a rate of speed that probably caused the accident they just witnessed the results of!!! I believe when something like this happens maybe the Highway Patrol should place other officer's to potentially save other driver's??? Maybe, someone can suggest this to the proper authorities??? A warning to all of us out there driving our roads, including myself " SLOW DOWN
No mention of man's name. No mention if alcohol was a likely factor. This story was sanitized.
