Protesters Target Big Oil
-
Jessica Ebelhar/Las Vegas Review-Journal
Members of Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada, the Sierra Club and other groups rally in front of the Lloyd George U.S. Courthouse on Monday. Several of the two dozen who attended called for green energy jobs and said they want oil companies to pay taxes at rates comparable with those paid by the middle class. Others accused U.S. Sen. Dean Heller, R-Nev., of being allied with oil interests. The rally took place the same morning President Barack Obama announced his proposed deficit reduction measures including the "Buffett rule," which would require those earning more than $1 million annually to pay at least the middle class tax rate. » Buy this photo

Be sure to drive by and let them know that the sierra club s**ks and PLAN is run by a PUTZ.
Did these "GREEN ENERGY OBAMITES" drive their "OIL PRODUCING / GAS DRIVEN VEHICLES TO THE PROTEST --- or DID THEY WALK"????? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I'll bet "NONE OF THEM" own, or have an interest in a solar powered car !!!
In many states the oil companies AND the mineral owners pay an EXTRACTION TAX, up to 11.5% BEFORE the oil even becomes gas. When Big Oil makes a profit, they pay dividends to stockholders who then pay income tax on the dividends. These Sierra Club radicals aren't as smart as they think they are. The green they favor most is the green MONEY they collect.
Half this country pays a 0% net federal tax rate ( they either pay nothing or they take more than they put in) these are the same people who claim the rich don't pay enough. And they think anyone with more money than themselves is rich... They want everyone to be equally poor.
Oil companies have a relatively low gross profit % when compared to other industries. There sheer size is what makes the numbers so big, we are talking about the biggest companies in the world. So the protesters are either d..b.sses or protesting the size of the company not the profits... Most liberals have no idea who actually pays taxes...
There's an AP story right now, about fact checking the claim that secretaries pay more taxes than rich people, that's worth reading. The basic idea is that rich people pay more in AVERAGE tax rates, but that average rate is often zeroed out by the number of deductions and exemptions they can claim. As Timothy Geithner says in this AP story, whether or not rich people pay lower taxes depends on what profession or business they are in. Makes sense to me.
Every multi-billion dollar business just like the oil companies, that does not pay their fair share of taxes, needs to be immediately targeted for "protests." Then, they all need to "cough up" the millions and billions of dollars they should be paying in taxes--immediately--right now! ..."We the people"...cannot continue paying for THEIR share that they owe. Let's see what our President is going to do about this horrific problem!
So now they want corps. to pay the same taxes as indivduals? Might as well shut down the country, they do know that the state and federal gov. makes more money off a gallon of gas than the oil companies do, from taxes? Why don't you protest GE for not paying any taxes? Oh, I forgot, GE and Obama are buds!
