Romney to roll out jobs plan in Nevada
Tools
STEPHENS WASHINGTON BUREAU
WASHINGTON -- Mitt Romney, who says his 25 years in the private sector have given him special insights into business growth, plans to unveil his job creation strategy on Sept. 6 in Nevada .
A Romney campaign spokesman said that the Republican presidential contender will be in the state "for a jobs speech" after Labor Day and that details would be forthcoming.
Romney disclosed his plans during an interview on Fox News and on his Twitter feed, where he said he "will be rolling out my jobs plan."
A Romney organizer in Nevada said plans were still being formed.
The former Massachusetts governor, who is a member of the Mormon church, has made at least four trips this year to Nevada, where he captured the state's Republican presidential caucus in 2008 and has been favored to do so again in 2012.
Romney gave no clues to his jobs strategy and did not spell out why he chose Nevada, but it might not have been necessary. The state has the highest jobless rate in the nation, at 12.9 percent in July.
In April, Romney walked through a North Las Vegas neighborhood hit hard by foreclosures in a media event intended to signal his concern about the mortgage crisis.
Romney has portrayed himself as a seasoned business leader and argues he can manage the economy better than President Barack Obama. Critics, however, say his job creation record in Massachusetts was puny.
Romney said in June he planned to keep a relatively low campaign profile through Labor Day. Unveiling a jobs strategy in Nevada would be the first in a series of expected moves by Romney to put more meat on his policy campaign.

For anyone to suggest, at a time when corporate profits are at the highest they've been in the entire history of this country, a time when corporate cash holdings are higher than they have ever been in history, during a time when the gap between the wealthiest Americans and the poorest Americans is near the highest it has ever been in history, that THIS is a result of the "boot" of government being on the "necks" of the private sector is tragically ignorant. It is time that nonsense become something that children revel in, not the people making decisions in this country.
When Romney was in the private sector, he ran Bain Capital. They would buy companies, gut them, and then put them out of business or move jobs to China. I worked with one small family owned company that was bought out by Bain. When the company was bought, they were the leader in their field. A few years later, the manufacturing was moved to China, and the quality of the products fell. Today, the company is out of business. The only jobs Romney knows how to generate are, overseas. Romney is a slick wheeler-dealer who sacrificed American jobs so he could make American products in China, and line his pockets.
Romney stole the state caucus in 2008 from Ron Paul, after his supporters shut it down, my money's still with Ron Paul....
Yes, large tax-payer funded public works project..... Just like a typical right winger you would rather see your tax money going to fund a war or two overseas rather than spending that money on infrastructure and other things AMERICANS needs. I say spend that money here and put AMERICANS back to work. Those paid by the taxpayer then turn around and spend in the private sector, that stimulates our economy. What is so darned difficult for the far right to understand?
In this environment, no political or religious group is free of stinging criticism. Free speech comes at a price. Romney is just one who is preaching to the crowd with empty promises and great hopes of a turnaround. He has no more knowledge of how to turn this economy around than many other prognosticators and fortune tellers. The main concern should be to consider candidates who offer rational and balances ideas. Those of extreme views, who seem to rely on stinging criticism and endless rant should be disregarded. Unfortunately, the field seems well populated with them.
A message to those who have used the forum to disparage the "Mormon" church (actually The Church of Jesus Christ, of Latter-Day Saints) under the guise of not supporting a particular political candidate. It's a mentality along the same lines that had mobs driving "Mormons" out of their homes by force in the dead of winter in the 1800's. Article VI of the Constitution warns against this train of thought. I am a convert to the religion and find it disturbing that my faith is attacked during a discussion about a political candidate.
"How we develop a market is to PAY people to work, on large government funded public works "... The last congress paid people to stay home and put Wall Street on welfare by paying deficiencies on foreclosures. "That three letter word, JOBS."
Large government funded public works? Are you nuts? Who do you think pays for those, a magic money fairy? We do, the taxpayers. Everybody gets soaked to pay for a few jobs under one of those projects. The true way to open up the job market is to take the government out of it. Right now, the free market is holding its breath (and money) waiting to see what your benevolent government is going to slam us with next. Get the government boot off our necks and companies will start hiring.
When are you going to learn that for as long as you are blinded by a politician's religion, you are going to be the problem in deciding the leaders of this country.
Hack.Phleming - your name suits you. People work when paychecks are spent. Companies do not just create jobs just to do it, there must be a market. How we develop a market is to PAY people to work, on large government funded public works projects. People spend and goods are manufactured and people BUY.
Romney and his religious cult members have no place in our government, the guy is a flim-flam man, a snake oil salesman and you are drinking the kool-aid my friend.
