Three masked robbers smashed glass display cases and took jewelry from a store in the Galleria at Sunset mall late Sunday afternoon, Henderson police said.

Police spokesman Keith Paul said the robbery occurred at 5:42 p.m. at the Ben Bridge jewelry store.

As of 7 p.m., police were still looking for three suspects.

Paul said there were reports that at least one gun was seen, but those reports had not been confirmed Sunday night.

Paul said a decision was made to evacuate the mall after the robbery. Police did not make that decision, he said.

He noted, however, that the mall had been scheduled to close at 6 p.m.

@Sandra.Chavez.....You will find that reality.kingpin has a whole host of similarly bad ideas. While he tries to wrap these ideas in a pretty "tough on crime" bow, a keen eye can see his ideas for what they really are, an attempt to further his fascist agenda towards replacing America's democratic government with a totalitarian regime where he can be relieved of the awesome burden of thinking for himself. Look at what he proposes, a violent shootout in a crowded mall. He wants fear to reign down on us all so we will willingly surrender the rights of forefathers died to provide us. He would even sacrifice the lives employees at this store to further his totalitarian agenda. That would be the result of imposing a life sentence for a robbery like this. Why would a criminal leave a living witness? He wants to alter the risk/reward ratio so that it would be more beneficial for criminals to become violent. He longs for violence and anarchy to surround us all in hopes we will cower in fear and turn our lives over to the Big Government he so desperately desires.

Sadly, how many jewelry stores have good security in the malls? This will begin to change things a bit. I am sure jewelry stores will now employ some "Buckarroo" for security.

Excellent description of potential MO but I wanted to mention the fat people that circle the parking lot waiting for a close parking space so they do not have to walk far.

Something people in the mall parking lots do not notice is vehicles circling the lots with three or four people in them. This is an easy way for them to spot out possible robbery victims. With the usage of cell phones, two vehicles can keep in contact and set up robberies. Also they can do the same in the malls with cell phones and Bluetooth’s, you can have a look out in the mall or a vehicle waiting to pull up to get them at anyone of the entrances as they run out.

Heard a story about a jewelry store robbery in NY I think. Owner was a big gun advocate. Had guns all over under the counters. Two masked guys walk in, one jumps on the counter and fires a shotgun into the ceiling. Before he finished saying "This is a stick........" he hit the floor with more bullet holes in him than a block of swiss cheese. Needless to say the other guy became very responsive to the store employees commands.

In addition, I could see a young man joyriding....or shoplifting,....or some other minor crimes and then suddenly seeing the light and changing their lives to go on to lead productive lives....But when you commit a crime where you walk in a business and shove a gun in someones face and rob them......To me, there is no recovery........And that to me should be a life sentence. As a parent I have little toletance for bad behavior with my kids but if they did do some minor crime I would want a second chance.....but for these violent crimes there should be NO second chance. I suspect societies ways would change.
